Need advice on Comp Cams "Thumper" Hydraulic Cam and Lifters

Thanks for adding me to the team.

I recently purchased a 1988 GTA which has a slight knock in the bottom-end. I picked up a newly machined 4-bolt main, 350 bored .60 over. Summit Racing has a Competition Cams CL12-600-4 Hydraulic Flat Tappet Cam and Lifter Kit (Lift: .479/.465 Duration 279/297, RPM range 2000-5800) I would like to use with my factory TPI heads, intake, computer, accessories, etc..

Does anyone have any experience with this cam selection, or general advice on the engine swap? I am comfortable pulling the old engine and swapping the top-end if it's a direct swap.

I appreciate any advice or guidance you can share.

Thanks,

GoatDoc

I'm no expert but that may be too big of a cam for the stock TPI. I think a stock LT1 or LT4 cam would be a better choice.

Thanks for the info..... I'll look into that as an option.
