The Japanese market got its own separate brochure again for 1992, the GTA’s final production year. Export sales accounted for over twice the sales in the US; export sales logged a total of 282 cars, while US sales amounted to only 226 units.
The actual, literal English translations have been included along with the individual brochure pages.
A/N: Luckily for us, the cover is already printed in English.

“A high-potential mechanism designed to let you freely enjoy V8 power.”

A 5.0-Liter V8 Engine with Big, Tangible Torque
The Firebird Trans Am is equipped with a 5.0-liter V-type engine with a displacement of 4,999 cc. To extract maximum performance, GM’s electronically controlled TPI (Tuned Port Injection) system is employed. This engine produces 225 PS at 4,000 rpm, with a maximum torque of 42.8 kg-m at 3,200 rpm. Its abundant low- and mid-range torque delivers strong acceleration, while relaxed cruising at 100 km/h at just 1,000 rpm ensures smooth, effortless driving.
Overwhelming Torque and Power — The 5.7-Liter V8 Engine
The Firebird Trans Am GTA is powered by a 5.7-liter OHV V8 engine, delivering immense torque and power across the entire rpm range. This V8 also features GM’s electronically controlled TPI fuel-injection system, precisely tuned to maintain peak operating efficiency. Maximum output is 240 PS at 4,400 rpm, with peak torque of 47.0 kg-m at 2,800 rpm, providing the exhilarating performance and strong acceleration unique to the GTA.
A Suspension System That Supports Powerful Driving
The front suspension uses a modified MacPherson strut design, with a 34 mm stabilizer bar (36 mm on the GTA). This improves handling performance while also enhancing the Trans Am’s low and aggressive front appearance. The rear suspension employs a torque-arm and coil-spring layout, combined with a 23 mm stabilizer bar (24 mm on the GTA). This system effectively controls the large torque generated by the V8 engine, delivering excellent ride comfort, high stability, and confident road holding.
An Automatic Transmission That Efficiently Transmits Engine Output
The electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission optimizes gear selection according to driving conditions, efficiently delivering engine power without loss. It not only improves fuel efficiency, but also ensures smooth acceleration and stable cornering by fully utilizing available traction.
Limited-Slip Differential Gear
The limited-slip differential controls differences in left- and right-wheel rotation, ensuring effective power delivery to the road. This prevents wheel spin during cornering or on slippery surfaces, enhancing both driving stability and safety.
High-Performance Brake System
The front brakes use ventilated disc brakes with excellent heat dissipation. The rear also features ventilated disc brakes, ensuring consistent braking performance even during demanding driving. This system provides reliable stopping power and excellent control, contributing to a high level of active safety.
Tires & Wheels
The Trans Am combines ride comfort with stable handling through P215/60R16 94S steel-belted radial tires, mounted on 8J × 16 aluminum wheels with a refined design. On the GTA, P245/50ZR16 tires are fitted to deliver enhanced grip and high-speed stability, fully supporting its high-performance capabilities.
To fully enjoy the pleasure of driving, the Trans Am pays close attention to its equipment.”

High Safety Performance That Meets Strict US Standards
The Trans Am achieves a high level of safety by fully complying with strict U.S. safety regulations.
In addition, numerous safety measures are incorporated throughout the vehicle to further enhance occupant protection.
High-Level Safety Proven By FMVSS
The Firebird Trans Am satisfies the FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards), which are among the most demanding automotive safety standards in the world.
Because these standards are based on rigorous training, compliance ensures a high level of safety and reliability that drivers can trust.
Airbag System
When sensors detect a severe frontal impact, the airbag built into the steering wheel deploys instantly.
Working together with the seat belt, it reduces impact forces on the driver and enhances overall opccuant protection.
Side Impact Protection
To guard against side collisions, reinforcement beams are built into the doors.
These structures help absorb and disperse impact energy, protecting occupants in the event of a side crash.
Center High-Mounted Stop Lamp
A center mounted high stop lamp is positioned at eye level for following drivers.
This improves visibility during braking and helps prevent rear-end collisions.
High-Strength Body Structure
The body structure incorporates high-strength materials and carefully engineered crumple zones.
This design efficiently absorbs and disperses impact energy while maintaining cabin integrity.
5-Mile-Per-Hour Impact-Resistant Bumpers
Specially designed bumpers protect the vehicle from damage in low-speed impacts (up tp 5 mph/ 8 km/hr), reducing repair costs and improving everyday durability.
Advanced Crash Testing with GM Dummies
Extensive crash testing is conducted using GM’s proprietary crash-test dummies, developed to closely replicate human movement and injury response.
These dummies help engineers analyze impact forces in detail and refine safety performance to meet GM’s stringent internal standards.
