Dark Jade Gray 92 GTA
Hi, 3 months ago I bought a Dark Blue 1992 Trans Am, at first I thought it was a regular Trans Am and my intention was to swap all the performance equipment to my T-Top Firebird.
When i took delivery of the car, I found the RPO code list in the trunk and discovered it was in fact a GTA. I ran the RPO´s and it seems this car is somewhat rare as the original color is called Dark Jade Gray Metallic. Is this true? I read somewhere there were like only 18 made in this color, anyone know for sure? The car has the l98/auto combo. It seems it was in an accident at some point as it has Firebird fender badges and the hood was originally some kind of dark green shade. My new plan is to slowly restore this car as it is in rough condition right now. If anyone has any idea how many GTA´s were built like mine, please let me know. I´ll upload a few pics of the car as it is right now. |

Re: Dark Jade Gray 92 GTA
Well first of all, welcome to the source page. Its usually a little slow in here but with some patience, all your questions can get answered. Looking at your pics, I have some observations.........
First the interior. My guess is that the previous owner had some upholstery work done. I don't believe I have ever seen a cloth AND leather set up on a GTA. I kinda like it though and once cleaned up and repaired, it will be sharp. Secondly, the RPO codes. Looks like according to this page, the proper color would be Dark Bright Teal Metallic and yes it would be rare as would most of the 92 colors since very few were produced. What intrigued me more was the U1A code. That's the factory CD player. Is that still in the car? If so, that would be a good thing. Looks like a great find. Restoring it will be great as it puts another GTA on the road again, but it may not bring what you think it might if you were to sell it after restoring it. They are bringing some money and the market is getting better, but the 91-92s are a love/hate body kit. I of course love it because I have a 91 and love the previous style, but many prefer the previous body kit. However you decide to go forward with it, I wish you the best of luck and look forward to seeing pics of the progress!
