Day trip in the GTA

It was a PERFECT weekend here, so I decided to get the GTA out, throw the Mrs in the passenger seat and go a drive. We ended up going to Weston, MO to check out the sites, sounds, and smells. Its a neat little town, rich in history. Of course I snapped a pic of the GTA in front of one of the historic buildings on Main Street and thought I'd share. Put about 125 miles on it and will turn 41K the next time I get it out...........bittersweet but well worth it with the windows down and the sound of the motor and exhaust humming down the road.

Re: Day trip in the GTA

Forgot to mention earlier-At 40K miles it's nicer than many 15K mile GTAs.

Definitely one of the nicest GTAs I've ever saw. SWEET

Looking good Bill. Always nice taking those kind of cruises in the GTA. And no matter where you go, someone will always give you a thumbs up or ask you questions about your car.
Nice pic with the historical building. Both look classy!!

Re: Day trip in the GTA

Thanks again everyone. The wife was actually asking if the pic had been uploaded to Photobucket yesterday. Guess they are having a print special and she wanted to have it printed for the man cave. Man I've got a good woman at my side.

Funny you mention that. I got a text while we were up there from a friend saying that there was a familiar picture on a friend of theirs Facebook page, so she texted the pic to me and lo and behold, there was the GTA sitting in front of the building with the caption "One clean a$$ GTA sitting in Weston" LOL!! Small world and getting props on FB......too funny.

nice one dude
better to use it than worry about keeping the mileage low
gets no better than a few magic hours on the road in a GTA on a nice day

Re: Day trip in the GTA

A day trip sounds to be very fun. I am glad to read that you take it in your GTA. I have not been driving my own GTA for many months. Maybe we take it out on a good drive perhaps only three times during this current year. I usually will let it run for about fifteen or twenty minutes once a month for the battery charging and to circulate all of the fuids. This year again only about 350 miles driven for total. Can not believe that my GTA is 29 years old soon. Can not believe it. But the happy part for me is that it had smog testing in spring and passed very well

Your post made me recall that some on this thread and I were talking about you at the nats. we were leaning towards the idea that you are not who you say you are. I am married to an asian person whose 1st language is not english and know lots of asians and the way you write leads me to believe you are not in that camp. You make simple mistakes but for the more advanced phrases you do well. also odd that we never see you and your car and odd you are so into something and have such specific knowledge about it but share little about your home country etc.... just doesn't mesh.
We could be totally wrong and it is confusing why someone would want such a persona and keep going with it except gets excited to play games? I dont know.

Re: Day trip in the GTA

Had another great weather weekend, so we dug out the GTA, wiped it down and met up with some friends with F-bodies and my son's new (to him) GXP Grand Prix. Put about 300 miles on it this weekend. Quick pic of the group.......

Thank you! What is kind of comical is that my son and I got the same fuel mileage for the trip and he has the cylinder deactivation on his GXP (5.3 liter V8), so the old school 5.7 TPI got 25 MPG on the trip. We both have the same size fuel tanks for the most part and both read the same on our fuel gauges when we got home. I don't need no stinking cylinder deactivation lol.

Re: Day trip in the GTA

Glad to hear you got good mileage.

To be fair, while he does have Active Fuel Management (AFM) on his 5.3L, he also has 303 horsepower, and quite a bit more weight.

Re: Day trip in the GTA

True, he does have a horsepower advantage and i have the weight advantage for the car only although only about 150 lbs. He was by himself where I had myself and my wife so that gives him the weight advantage now lol. Either way, I have to brag about the mileage.

Re: Day trip in the GTA

That's interesting Bill. I would have thought the weight difference to be greater. Either way, good mileage numbers for your car for sure.
