Agreed, even if it's only a 5.0L/auto.

Indeed it is, considering 88 GTAs in gun metal grey are few...it's a convertible. Nice car and mileage.

Nice car with some questionable add ons and it looks to have the rear tires on the wrong side. I'm nit-picking small things that are easily corrected but that is a sweet ride for sure!

I'm the Guy who Bought it! And yes I think i got a pretty good deal, even with the buyers premium, and I trailered it home to MA myself, so more savings there. I googled the VIN, turns out it was sold in a Storage Auction in March 2014, in of all places the town right next to mine in Auburn MA, go figure! Carfax shows the last mileage entry of 7000 in 1994, so even six years into it's life it was babied. Given these facts, and the unbelievable condition of the car; Paint, Interior, Engine, and underbody are super clean, I definitely believe the milage to be true and correct. Still ANXIOUSLY waiting for the Title, it takes 2 weeks after the Auction, to Register it so i can drive it, but that didn't stop me from tooling around the Parking lot at Mecum before I loaded it on the truck. Even with the 5.0 Liter I was pretty impressed with the power, lit up the tires and everything! I just posted some pics in my Garage on this site.

Hi TTOP350, Hey I'm the guy who bought it. Yes it did have a couple aftermarket add ons like an 80's Cell Phone transmitter in the trunk/Dash, and either a pre-historic GPS or Sat Radio on the dash as well, and some stereo upgrades too... the good thing is they're mostly easily removable, and I already started removing some of them. My question is about your comment regarding the Rear Wheels, not sure what you mean, could you explain further? Thanks, Bob

Re: 1988 GTA Convertible sold at Mecum Harrisburg

Just to respond to your question. our tires are typically unidirectional.. which looks like they have a V pattern to the tread.. that V should point towards the front of the car on the top of the tire. He means that your left and right rears got swapped and point in the wrong direction. We cant really "rotate" tires without un-mouting them from the rims. the front offset is different from the rear so you cant swap back to fronts and if you have the unidirectional tread pattern you cant swap right to left. If you swap left and rights on the rear they will be facing correctly. Just like the fronts are.

That's helpful information, thanks! I actually think I have a slow leak in the LR wheel, so If they're reversed I'll fix that at the same time.

Re: 1988 GTA Convertible sold at Mecum Harrisburg

Was this the car with the dash pad painted to match the interior?

And when I had my front bumper cover re-sprayed the experienced body shop owner said he thought the front wheels were on the back (and vice versa). I was pretty sure they were correct but checked the markings on the inside of the wheels to be sure.

Don't think so, the Dash is Black and Interior gray Leather

1badgta hit the nail on the head. If you read the tire sidewall it will tell you how the tread should be with a arrow.
Take care of it, shes a nice one!!!!
