Re: Have you checked your injectors lately?

Just Ohm'd the multecs on the GTA - 10.6, 10.9's, this was cold ...

I am working on the EGR valve (again) with plenum off, just debating if I should just keep going. ?

I think its time. Might as well do injectors, FPR, new runner gaskets ....

Re: Have you checked your injectors lately?

Correction, I just checked all the injectors again, must have been reading it wrong. The all OHMd from 17.4 to 17.8.

When I look up the spec for multecs say 12.0 - this was cold (60*), could they all be going ?

I think the spec for those injectors is in the 16 - 17 ohm range.

I'm running around 48psi.
I also have a modified chip to handle the increased flow rate.
Me too, I have 28lbs injectors and a BBK afpr set at 45 psi. Custom tune by Hawk92tdz from TGO.

Re: Have you checked your injectors lately?

Are our 350's 22lb or 24lb stock ?

I'm really temped to keep going and put in new injectors into the bird.

I did it last year to the Iroc and it ran like a different car. I can imagine the old multecs are tired.

If I'm not mistaken the stock injectors for the 5.7 are 22lb.

Re: Have you checked your injectors lately?

Thanks guys, appreciate the support. I am going for it. Going to do the stock 22 LB and a new stock regulator.
Also bought a new EGR Valve, putting in a used EGR solenoid, new temp probe, new IAT under plenum. New runner gaskets.

They are the later style and are different from the OE injectors. Need to follow directions or you may have problems getting them to seal.

When I bought these, it was cheaper to buy from SouthBay than have the OE injectors cleaned...
just ordered a set from them. very helpful
fitted a set of accell ones a year ago and 2 gone bad already
and cost double the southbay price

Re: Have you checked your injectors lately?

Did everything I mentioned above - runs great, no SES light (touch wood).

Got my Bosch III/22 Lb'ers from SBI also.

New plenum/runner gaskets, torqued, running smooth. My throttle body bolts were finger loose - probably what caused my vac problems and egr not working right.

Sorry , I never saw your post until now. The custom chip is pretty labour intensive and it is alot of trial and error, We still have some tweaking to do, but you get the car running how you want it to. We will be finishing it on the dyno in the spring. But, the car is running great. Even after we burned the first chip, we were able to drive the car to Dayton Ohio for Nats and back, nothing like breaking in a new motor driving it 7 hours in the heat of the summer.

Re: Have you checked your injectors lately?

Would there be any gains to add the 24 lb Bosch 111 or stay with stock 22s ? Also can you still get "reliable" multecs if a guy wanted to keep the factory look ? Not sure I need new injectors but looking into this just because....

Re: Have you checked your injectors lately?

Yes I believe you can get the Multecs from SBI - best to call and chat with them - see what the +/- is. can't be all that bad if the stock ones lasted 20+ yrs in most cars. They do a good job of cleaning and balancing the sets.

If you do go 24Lb, may want an adjustable FPR. If not you may need to tune the computer for the higher pressure.

South Bay Injectors are very reasonable. I've had mine for 3 years now and no issues. Price was right also.
