Anybody get the Dyno Don's without AIR tubes? Thinking about this bolt on, but it would be nice to get rid of some of the clutter around the motor and maybe change my plugs in...45 minutes? If I get Collector car plates I can get around emissions. Any real benefit to that besides de-cluttering and slight weight reduction?

Those look awesome. I was reading over at thirdgen that there is an effect when removing the AIR tubes that the ECM will run slightly lean. It is way beyond my pay scale to comprehend all of the data posted there on that topic.

Will the Dyno Don headers bolt right up to the stock Y-pipe? I see some headers require a special Y-pipe and 92rszz4 has one in the photo with the headers.

Re: Headers for 5.0L / 5.7L TPI

No, they will not bolt up to the stock Y-pipe. You wouldn't want them to anyway. The stock Y-pipe is total garbage. Don does make his own Y-pipe for the headers and they are equally impressive. Huge pipes, mandrel bends and fit like a glove under the car. I have dual cats so I have the 2.5 inch Y-pipes going into 2 cats then into a Flowmaster Y-collector that turns into 3 inches all the way to the end.

The Y-pipe that 92rszz4 has in the pic is a Dyno Don Y-pipe. Look at how big those pipes are compared to stock.

That's correct if you are increasing the header size might as well increase the entire exhaust system if not you will continue with the same flow rate

I will be adding the DD headers to my existing recently installed stainless steel Magnaflow exhaust... 3" from cat and exits out of muffler and believe it goes to 3.5" tips, everything mandrel bent. Sound pretty loud right now with stock exhaust manifolds, and yes you will need to use a new Y-pipe for the single CAT system. Check out the magnaflow website, this exhaust is just awesome for these cars!

Re: Headers for 5.0L / 5.7L TPI

I have Edelbrock shorty headers on my '89 5.7 GTA. I am pretty sure they are no longer available since I've been looking around for a replacement crossover/y pipe with NO luck. Hawks 3rd Gen used to sell these, not sure what shorties he might sell currently. Call 'em and ask.

Thanks Gerry, I think you're right though, Edelbrock is no longer making these headers. I'm going to get the DD headers, ceramic coated...I don't want to be replacing them for a long time.
