Power door locks

I hear a clicking noise when i try to lock or unlock my doors but nothing happens, could it be the actuators? if so are they mounted inside door?, thanks

Yes, the actuators are behind the door panels. I would remove the panels ( carefully, they are old) and check the actuators and rods. Probably nothing more than a cleaning and some light grease to get them back in shape.

Re: Power door locks

Yes and be careful when you remove the door panels, because the metal push rods for the door lock can get bent easily, and if they get bent, this will also cause the symptom that you are now experiencing with the door lock not working properly.

Re: Power door locks

Bent rods are possible but unlikely. If you hear clicking, the system is working, including the actuators. The problem is usually the old grease on the tiny levers in the latch mechanism gets dryed out and stiff. Once the door panel is off, clean the levers with brake clean, dry the latch with comressed air, then lube the lever hinges real good with white lithium grease (lubriplate). You can get that stuff in aeorsol with a straw.
