Computer tuning

Hi everybody,
I am a young guy and am really just getting interested in cars after getting my 88 GTA and I have what I feel may be a dumb question but I need to know-
My 88 is fairly modified under the hood and I do not have any idea about my GTAs computer. I plan on doing many more things to increase power and was wondering, when I do serious mods, if I need to do something to the computer. I dont know what I would have to do, if anything. I was thinking about adding a twin turbo kit and I am under the impression that the computer will have to have something done to it.
Sorry if it is a dumb question
Thanks for the help

Re: Computer tuning

Yes, if you put twin turbos or heads/cam etc on your car you are going to have to get a custom tune made for it.

Re: Computer tuning

There is a chip inside the computer. If you make too many changes, then a new chip will have to be burned for the computer. There are people and businesses that can do this for you, or you can learn to do it yourself.

Regards,

Ron.

Re: Computer tuning

Most types of power adders will requireat a minimum a reprogram of the chip. For boosted applications I would recommend an aftermarket or reprogrammed Syclone/Typhoon GM ECU with someone who knows how to tune behind the wheel.
Check out EFI Connection's 24x and 58x systems, they use LS1 computers and harness to run your Gen 1/2 on new computer hardware.
