Exclamation First ever! 1989 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am Reunion in Hebron, Ohio in 2011

I wanted to post over here because I know how much love the GTA guys and gals have for the TTA as well! For all of the GTA guys and gals who want to check out and be a part of this first ever history in the making event I wanted to keep you in the loop over here! Also if you know ANY ONE with a 1989 Turbo Trans Am please let me know about this event so they can attend. I wonder if any white GTA's will try to blend in!

Sorry for being so long but we are trying to make this amazing event the biggest and best ever so there is a lot going on!

22 years later and this is it!! If you are a 1989 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am owner or just an enthusiast this is the event you want to be at. In conjunction with BPG http://www.buickperformancegroup.com/ This is the event you have been waiting for!

What: The official 1989 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am Reunion Party!

When: July 29th, 30th, and 31st. The show/display will be on Saturday July 30th.

Where: National Trail Raceway http://www.nationaltrailraceway.com/

It will be over 22 years that these cars have all been in one place at the same time and it's time to get them all back together again and be a part of it! There is a lot planned for this event and I will be adding to this thread in time as things fall into place.

The reason we set this date so far in advance is so everyone can get a truck and trailer lined up if needed to get to this event. You have plenty of time plan and we hope to see over 100 TTA's in one place again if not more!

Hotel Information:

There are other hotels in the area if you want to google the area. The host hotel sells out fast so you might want to get all your hotel information set up far in advance! There is security at the track 24/7 the entire event. So I would go right to the track with your car and trailer and leave them both at the track if your coming in for the weekend. Then you can just use your tow vehicle to drive back and forth to the hotel. The hotels are about a 10 min drive to the track. There is plenty of fast food and quality restaurants in the area.

Car Show and display: Saturday July 30th

The car show will consist of a 100 point judging system. The BPG will give out trophies and we will have some special trophies as well. There will also be goodie bags to EVERY TTA that enters the show/display. There will also be a FREE special limited edition event t shirt given out to every TTA that enters the show and display!! This is my contribution to this event. Everyone loves a free t shit! The special limited edition shirts will also be for sale at the event. The folks at Indy 500 have already sent me some door prizes to give away as well for the event.

The reason we call this a show and display because it's all about the cars. Even if your TTA is no where near a show car it's all about bringing it out and putting it on display and giving everyone that attends this even to enjoy your TTA with all the other TTA's that are there. Not to mention to be a part of this once in a life time huge event!

Some of the special awards will be....

Furthest TTA Driven: The car that is driven to this event from the furthest point to Ohio.

Furthest TTA Hauled out: The TTA that is hauled in from the furthest point to the event.

The Rarest TTA: If one of the TTA verts show up and or the hard top TTA's present would be considered for this.

Best of show Stock: The stock one that sets it's self apart from the others. Could be a car "still in the wrapper" Or just a super clean stocker.

Best of show modified: The best modified TTA present. Get those race cars ready!

Lowest Mile TTA: The TTA that is present with the lowest miles.

Highest Mile TTA: The TTA that is present with the highest miles.

If you can think of any other special awards you would like at this event please let me know and we will consider them!

**One thing to keep in mind is that you MUST have a UL approved fire extinguisher in an easily accessible place in the vehicle! It does not have to be mounted in the car but it MUST be present! Some guys put them in front of the driver side tire or just lay it on the floor in the back on the passenger side. But there must be a UL approved extinguisher within reach that can be seen. This is one of the rules of the BPG and it's for everyone's safety.**

Special Guest: I am working with the folks at the Indy 500 trying to get some special guest to come out to this event for autographs and such. I have some good leads but if you have some leads please let me know and I will pursue them as well. This will build as time goes along and I will update any new and solid information in this thread.

Rain Date: While there is no rain date for this event with BPG I have made special arrangements to get this event a rain date! I want to see this reunion go off next year no matter what! I just think no matter what these cars deserve an event like this no matter what mother nature may have in mind for us in 2011. I have teamed up with Sue of the Trans Am Nationals and IF we get rained out at the July 30th 2011 BPG event in Ohio we will piggy back with Sue and their crew of the Trans Am Nationals and have this event at their location in Dayton Ohio. I spoke with Sue and as of now they don't have a date set for the 2011 Trans AM Nationals but when they do make a date I will add it in this thread and that will be used ONLY if we get a rain out on the July 30th 2011 date in Ohio.

Ideas, Input, Suggestions, Questions: If you have any please post them in this thread. This thread will grow and change as this event gets closer. You can always PM me as well if you need to.

Can You Make This Event?: If you can make this event or plan to please post in this thread. Let us know if your going to bring a car or just spectate. I would like to get a head count of the members and cars here that are going to attend just to get an idea. The BPG also has extended the offer that the TTA can also have their own race class at this event for you guys who like to race your TTA's. Their pay outs are one of the biggest around! So if your a show guy or a race guy we have you covered and that is why we chose this location and event to have this huge reunion at!

Advertising: We need YOU! Anyone you know with a TTA or who may have one you need to pass the word around! We are working on a flyer for this event that I will post here and we will also make a .PDF of it so you can print a few out and take them to the track or shows with you and when you see other TTA owners just drop one in his car or let him know about this event! In the coming months I will submit this reunion on as many car sites as I can. You can link back to this thread as well. But we need each and every owner to get the word out and let everyone know!

Press: I have reached out to every car magazine out there to let them know about this event. I am working with Hemmings to cover it along with Pontiac Enthusiast magazine. Please don't be shy! If you know anyone or have any e-mail contact for any car magazine out there please let me know and I will pursue them as well. I want this event to show up everywhere!

Many TTA owners always say the TTA never gets the respect it deserves, will now it's time to give the TTA the respect it deserves and we all know that respect comes in numbers! So mark your calander and get your truck and trailer lined up and ready to go to be a part of one of the biggest showing of the 1989 Pontiac Turbo Trans AM ever in history at the 1989 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am reunion!!

Exclamation Re: First ever! 1989 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am Reunion in Hebron, Ohio in 2011

Our special guest attending the TTA reunion next year at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio...

Attending the 1989 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am reunion next year will be the one and only. Mister Turbo Trans Am, Mister PAS him self....

SCOTT KELLY

I am so fired up Scott is going to attend our event!! It's been hard holding it back and I leaked the news out to a few members but Scott Kelly is/was PAS. He test drove each and every one of your cars when they rolled out of PAS in 1989!! These cars all deserve to head back to the BPG event in Ohio next year and see their creator once again! Scott is excited about the event and can't wait to see a long line of TTA's sitting in the pits at National Trail Raceway next year! He is working on some projects for the TTA's that will be announcing shortly! He misses the TTA's dearly and told me it was one of the most special projects he's ever done! So let's show Scott how each and every one of the TTA owners out there are nothing but first class and bring our TTA's out to this event next year! Some way, in any shape or form, get your TTA out to Ohio next year for this event and let's all make history!

This news blew me away when he said he would attend this event. After all without him there would never have been an 1989 turbo Trans AM!

Here is a little info on Scott Kelly for those that don't know him....

Scott Kelly was instrumental in the development and production of the 1989 20th Anniversary Trans Am. Scott served as the Engineering Liaison between PAS and General Motors throughout the program as well as being responsible for the all of the Trans Ams used during the month of May 1989 including the 3 actual Pace Cars. After the Trans Am program Scott worked as the Service and Warranty administrator for the Anniversary Trans Am, Syclone, Typhoon, Sonoma GT as well as Natural Gas powered trucks that PAS produced until 1994.

Scott and his Wife Ann currently own a small automotive technical writing company name Kelly Automobile Technologies that specialized in vehicle proposals, technical papers and marketing materials. Ann and Scott met under the hood of a prototype 20th Anniversary Trans Am in 1988 as Ann was tasked by Pontiac to develop the Owner’s Manual Supplement for the car.

I mean how cool is this news! The one and only Scott Kelly will be there next year in Ohio.

OK so now... Here is what we are working on for next year at the TTA reunion...

We are going to have possibly 2 or more Q&A sessions with Scott Kelly in the Jegs suite at the track. If attendance grows over the size of the Jegs suite we may relocated this Q&A session but we'll work on that as time gets closer. For now we have secured the suite all weekend thanks to BPG. The suite looks down the quarter mile and it's got cold AC! Scott will bring some never before seen pictures and documents from the making of the TTA back in 1989! We will show them while Scott tells us all about how the TTA came to life and the entire history behind the cars.

This is why we started the thread about questions on these cars because we have the man himself going to answer them for you at this event! I have spoke to Scott many times on the phone over the last year and some of the information he has gives me chills! Never before known facts about these cars will now be all out in the open! Trust me if you have the love for these cars that I do, this is something you do not want to miss!

Also... We will have dash plaques made for this event. On these plaques we will have a place for each and every TTA owner to write his name, vin, and car number. We will then take a picture of Scott Kelly, you, and the plaque in front of your car! How cool is that! You will be able to have a picture of your TTA with Scott showing that you were there! That should drive the prices up of your TTA's value!

Any means you have no matter how far away, if you own a TTA you have to get it out to Ohio next year for this event! Low miles, High miles, Garage queens and junk yard kings we want to see them ALL there next year in Ohio! This is event is every reason why we all own and love our 1989 turbo trans am's. Now it's time to bring them back together for the first time EVER with their creator. It just does not get any better then this! It's a year away and I'm so excited I wish it was tomorrow! These cars were always considered the red headed step child of the Pontiac world, well now it's time to show them how we can all come together once again! This event will be history in the making.

We have contacted Hemming's, Pontiac Enthusiasts, GM High Tech, and other publications to cover this event. So start your engines blow the cob webs off and get your TTA out to National Trail Raceway one way or another next year!

We also have other special guest that will be added as time passes on! We are not done yet! So stay tunned and find a way to get your TTA out to Ohio next year!

I would also like the thank BPG (Buick Performance Group) for letting us use this venue for a history making event like this. The BPG has done some amazing events at this location over the past few years like the GSX reunion and the Stage 1 reunion to name a few. They are a first class operation all the way. I was extremely pleased when they reached out to host the 1989 turbo trans am reunion at their location. If you want to know more about the BPG and or join their club, follow this link... http://www.buickperformancegroup.com/

members of the BPG do receive discounted ticket prices at the event next year so you may want to join the BPG to save some money on admission, show, and race fee's next year. It's a great group of guys and well worth the membership money.

Below is a never before seen picture of Scott Kelly and the TTA's at Indy! This is only one of the amazing picture collection Scott Kelly will share with us next year in Ohio at the reunion. Scott wants to repeat this picture in Ohio next year so bring those TTA's out!

Thumbs Up Re: First ever! 1989 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am Reunion in Hebron, Ohio in 2011

Hey guys I haven't updated here in awhile so I figured I'd drop in and give some updates for this event.

I've got Muscle Car Review coming in to do pictures and do a write up on the event as well as High Performance Pontiac magazine coming up for pictures and magazine article! So hopefully those enthusiasts that can't make it will be able to read about it!

I've reached out to ever Pontiac club out there and started getting some calls from folks that don't even own a PC. Amazing how many TTA owners don't even own a PC out there! Those are the people I want to make sure I get the word out to. So if you know anyone who owns a 89 TTA please reach out and let them know about this event. While your out at car shows around the country just ask any TTA owner you may see if they are attending and at least know about the event.

Hoping to work a deal out with some of these publications to get the flier running in them shortly to further get the word out. This is going to be a once in a life time event making history for sure no matter how you slice it up. While this event is for just the 89 TTA's I'm sure there will be some GTA's floating around spectating at the event! It's all about keeping these cars out there and in the light! Thanks for your support guys helping make this event a piece of history!

Here is a universal flier for the event with some prices and such....

Getting closer! The buzz is in the air for this event! Hoping to get 100 plus TTA's to attend! Make sure you let anyone you know who owns one of these cars or is a enthusiast of these cars to bring them on out!

Looks like Pontiac High Performance magazine will be there shooting the event. We are going to have a half page ad in the next issue! Should be out in the first weeks of July. I can't wait!
