Question 1987 pontiac trans am GTA - $18000

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hn...704014987.html

What's a digital upper console? Or is he talking about the odometer/message center.

Must be ... all the digital packages were the same on the GTA's. That's a sweet looking ride but for 18k he will be keeping it for awhile.

Is that a Canadian GTA? I thought the t-top and 5.7 combo wasnt offered, at least in the US, until 89. Just currious.

You're right, that combo wasnt available in the US. You would have to ask the seller if its Canadian. Most likely it is seeing that its in Minnesota.

Re: 1987 pontiac trans am GTA - $18000

Madman3, that is a nice firebird (second link) However, it looks like an 86 that was modified. It has 93+ front seats, 93+ radio, 93+ airbag steering wheel (prbably for the controls), it has a 90+ motor in it

After reading, all my guesses were correct heh Still its a nice bit of work. A bit too much $$$ but still nice.

That offer would be much closer to reality than his asking price. I would be surprised if he let it go for that unless any offers he may be getting are in that range.

Re: 1987 pontiac trans am GTA - $18000

The one you guys are talking about, with all the upgrades was a complete restore as you can see in the Ebay ad. First he said he cant go any lower than 14,500....telling me he paid 15k last Sept. I can only offer so much with my limited funds, so I offered the guy 11k, since shipping will be close to 1k. Costing me 12k. He said to give him a week or so to think it over. Supposed to hear from him tomorrow or thursday. if it's meant to be, it will be. I hate to part with all my loot, but that car looks like something special. Id like to hear some feedback....if I have the luxury of choosing, which do I pick? This one from Ebay... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT ORRRRRRR this one that someone posted froma Craigs List ad? http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hn...704014987.html I spoke to the lady yeaterday, who seemed to be a total sweetheart, but says she cant really go lower than 15k (which I think is a little high) the 87GTA didnt come with T's if it had the 5.7, she says these were factory installed by C&C , who did that for GM back then. Soo which one guys? Thats a TOUGH call for me. feedback would be appreciated. I ws thinking the 2nd one, just cause it's all original.

I would go for the second one.. but makes me think mine is worth more. 5 speeds typically get 25% more in the muscle car market. Mine has 20K miles and very very original with all documentation and original floor mats even. with rarer analog gauges (for 88). I would never buy a car with CUT t-tops. period. not as strong body then.

I would only pay 8 K for that car but thats me.

I agree with u, if those tops are not the factory ones, I would just move on.

I am not sure about that. Maybe if there is only one engine available like the Mustang GT or Camaro SS. But if there is a bigger motor available, thats usually where the collectors put their money. As far as 3rd Gens are concerned, The Collector Car Price Guide says "Add 15% for 5.7L V8"

I agree the stick cars get more cash only if the engine in them is the biggest. Since the 305 is a smaller engine I would not believe that they get more at all
