tailgate lifts

Rockauto.com is having a clearance sale. They are dumping some 3rd gen parts. I found a pair of tailgate supports ( for spoiler and rear wiper) that should work for our aerowing cars, for $15.35 plus shipping. You may want to check this out if you need new supports.

Re: tailgate lifts

Just be careful. Those are meant to support the urethane wings, which are MUCH heavier than the fiberglass. If you have the fiberglass, you may only need the non-spoiler hatch struts.

Re: tailgate lifts

Thats called a TORX head bolt. You will need to buy a TORX socket set. I think the ones you are looking at are a T45 or T50. Cheaper to buy a set, you will need them. If you want I can take a walk up to the shop and verify the size.

Re: tailgate lifts

It's a T45. I prefer Craftsman or NAPA. Good quality, resonable price and a lifetime guarantee. Go for a set, there are used in various places ( TPS screws, throttle body screw,etc.).

Re: tailgate lifts

Yeah, GM LOVES their Torx bits...both under the hood AND in the cabin.

Re: tailgate lifts

Are you talking about struts ? As the previous post stated...If you have your original urathane spoiler as I do, even new struts wouldn't hold my hatchback up. I first went with aftermarket, then someone told me I had to go OEM. In either case even the OEM doesn't hold...Good luck
