dual catalytic converter system

Worth the effort and expense? Magnaflow #23479 setup is around $380, free shipping. I need a new cat anyway, mine was trashed due to bad valve guides and leaking injectors. Car is a 1988 and I believe that I already have the bigger exhaust manifolds since the original engine was the "F" motor. A new intermediate pipe is required as well. No luck yet finding the correct heat shield. Engine is now a 350, LT4 hotcam, vortec heads and the Scoggins-Dickey TPI base with SLP runners and a 52mm throttle body. Sounds like a good late spring project. Car has to look like it has all of the original emissions stuff for at least 5 more years.

OK, getting dangerous here. Would a pair of headers ( Dyno Dons) and the single cat be a better choice than the stock manifolds and the dual cats? Pricewise, the headers would be a little less expensive. No money in the budget for headers and the dual cat setup, maybe someday.

Yes, imo, it would. The headers will definitely add more ponies that the other way. At most you could pick up 5 hp's on high flow cats.

Another question. The Dyno Don headers and Y pipe are close to $700. The Edelbrock (68723) are less than $500 and include a Y pipe. Primaries on the Edelbrock are 1 5/8 and the Dyno Dons are 1 3/4. Worth the extra $200 for a street car? Anyone use the Edelbrocks, any fitment isues?
