Re: Gas Leak

The only thing I did was use teflon tap around the threads and that was all.

Re: Gas Leak

Took the car out for a ride for the first time in two and a half weeks yesterday. Since I just replaced the fpr, I just wanted to see if all was well. Set the pressure to the stock, which is 42psi. But, when I began to drive around, the transmission was shifting weird. It was over reving when it was supposed to be shifting. Not until I jammed on the gas pedel did it shift. Took it out today and it did the same thing. Don't know what it could be, because I checked everything over last night and everything is connected as it should. It did well in the higher gears, but it stuggled coming out of first and going into second.

Re: Gas Leak

When it does shift, it shifts extremely hard and it almost jerks the car. Is there a way to reset the ECM, or is there something else that is causing this?

Re: Gas Leak

Since I am a newbie, I'm going to have to ask you what a tv cable is? I know a little bit, but I am definitly still in the learning process.

Re: Gas Leak

you might have pulled the TV cable when you were pulling things off to fix the FPR.

But thats what it sounds like. Adjust the TV cable and see how it runs.

Re: Gas Leak

Yep, same here. The tv cable is what some call the detent cable( which it is not). If you are NOT familar with adjusting the cable take it to a qualified tech at a reputable shop and have them do it,ok. Other wise you may burn up your trans.

Re: Gas Leak

Solved the problem. Dont know if this is the tv cable or not but its a cable that attaches to the side of the trottle body. It has a black cap on it and slides onto a small knob. Cant believe I missed that when I went over it before. Such an idiot. Well thanks for all the help through the process.

Re: Gas Leak

If it is the tv cable, once its removed it has to be re adjusted.

Re: Gas Leak

sounds like you didnt hook it up hehe

I would still follow the advice, take it to a shop and have them double check it just to be on the safe side. 100 bucks spent vs 2000 bucks spent is money saved and a transmission that won't eat itself.
