Angry fuel pressure regulator

Hey all a few hours ago i said i was haveing a problem but it was the fuel pressure regulator not the fuel pump regulator.Im going to napa tomorrow and having it put on.The one i have right now is at 20% all other tests were made and the owner that sold it to me put a new tranny on it about a year ago.So what happens is when i start it up it revs up but sounds like its struggling at high like a tittle backfire and when i run it a while when i get below 40 miles an hour it has trouble going and i have to press on the gas is this the fuel pressure regulator? the auto shop said this was the only thing they could find wrong the fuel pump is at 33% and the cleaned out the fuel injection so could i get some more advice?

Re: fuel pressure regulator

If it is the fp reg. get an adjustable one. Holley makes a real nice one. I have an Accel, its ok and gets the job done, however its a pita to adjust.

I second the motion to go with the Holley regulator. I finally installed one on my GTA and the adjustment is very easy and accurate. It has a large knob on top that you turn to make the adjustments, not a small screw and nut like the ACCEL style. One word of caution, trial fit the plenum before bolting it back on. I had a small interference between the knob and the bottom of the plenum. You dont want any interference here, makes it impossible to adjust and could cause a leak. I just used some 36 grit sandpaper, on a grinder, and smoothed out the area that was causing the interference.
