Need Help: Paint Advice

I just got my GTA four days ago: just took her into the shop to get a sticker as well as new fluids, new brakes, new bearings, and an engine diagnostic (140,000 miles, but still running very strong, no vibration or rattling anywhere in the car.) The only problem is that there is a patch on the nose of the car with some paint missing (about two inches by three inches) and some fool tried to buff the car, starting with the rear spoiler, and ruined the paint there (but fortunately got no futher than the top of the spoiler.) My problem is this: I'm really not eager to remove the original Norwood flame red metallic paint job since the vast majority of it looks so beautiful, and it's original to the car. What would be the best way to touch up the missing patches? I can see the black rubbery compound under the paint, not bare metal, where the paint is missing, and the bad job on the spoiler has faded but not remove the paint. These are the two areas I need to touch up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Actually the whole spoiler is made of the rubber, expect for the frame inside to mount it to the car.

The best thing to do is take it to a body shop and see what they say. The nose and spoiler can be taken off the car and painted and then put back on, leaving the rest of the car with the original paint. The only thing with the nose and the wing is they both need to have a flexible agent put in the paint, so when the paint dries it can flex and give a little. If not it will crack and spiderweb.

Hope this helps.

He probably meant State Inspection Sticker.

State Inspection Sticker. Maine's regulations are pretty tough.

No, there's no way in hell I'd put some crazy sticker on my GTA. It's not a Civic DX. It doesn't need big stripes and flame patterns to look like a sports car. Pontiac got it totally right with the subtle styling.

I'm with you on that one. Not even a pin stripe will ever come near mine either.

Well, several of the 87 GTAs came with a pinstripe. Mine has the original gold one, and it's not too bad. If I repaint the car (which I don't want to do) I won't replace it though.
