Re: Rare Pontiac on my local craigslist

I never knew the Grand Prix's came in the Aero Coupe, I know the Monte Carlo's are very popular and have handed ones ass in my Laser R/T several months ago lol. However this is very very unique for sure! This is still a RWD Chasis GP right?!?

Re: Rare Pontiac on my local craigslist

I love the 2+2s. We get a couple at the auction when we hold our special interest sale in the spring and these are in much better condition than that one. That one would be a good project and would love to have it, but I already have two 1990 McClaren Turbo Grand Prix projects (one is my daughter's and one is my son's) at home as it is right now lol. Well, one is a big project (as in bringing back to life) and the other is in decent shape, just want to make it better.

Re: Rare Pontiac on my local craigslist

The steering wheel and gear shift look very familiar After reading this post, I looked for this same car and was able to find them on auto trader website. The most expensive one is between $8,000 and $9,000 and is in very mint condition. There are about three other ones on that website for sale as well.

So what size of the engine does this car have? It says that it is an eight cylinder but does not explain the liters or cubic inches.

I'm not 100% positive but I know the monte ss got a 305 tbi so I think the grandprix would have the same

Re: Rare Pontiac on my local craigslist

Not that I can recall, I want to say that was the biggest engine they put in those cars

Re: Rare Pontiac on my local craigslist

Your probably right, because I found a really detailed article about this car. Interesting though that they say it has the 305 which would be a 5.0 liter, yet the engine they say only produced 165 horse power. Could this be because it was not a fuel injected engine?

Here is the article that I found on it:

Re: Rare Pontiac on my local craigslist

The horsepower figure could be linked to it not being fuel injected, but my guess is that they didn't want it to interfere with vette and and F-body sales since they weren't running much more in the way of horsepower. To answer your earlier post about the "pontiac" V-8......the last poncho V-8 would have been the lowly 301 last produced in 1981. Even with a turbo on it, the horsepower didn't get over 185 (I think). Starting with the 3rd gens was the start of "corporate" power (which IMO hurt Pontiac) although it started showing up with the "403 Olds" in the late 2nd gen TA's. Can you imagine an updated fuel injected 400 pontiac in a GTA..........I would love it.

After I rebuild the turbo on the one, I will talk about the experience and see if you still want one lol. So far it's been a PITA just trying to remove the turbo (bolts are rusted and seized up on the mount).

210 HP on the 80 TTA and 205 on the 81 TTA, due to a slight drop in timing.

Yes the LG4 in f-bodies was rated more around the 145 HP... 5.0 liter non HO motor....

I knew someone could help out with the TTA figures. Doesn't hurt to get the knowledge from an owner
