Take a look at this hack job...
1992 T/A Convertible Kinght Rider conversion
Im contemplating putting a bid on it as it doesn't look like much to return to original condition and it would get me on the road in a firebird quicker than my notch back. Can you guys pick out any other flaws, other than the obvious? I don't think it's a GTA but a T/A instead with weird parts put on it everywhere. Price is certainly right. At the very least it would make an awesome parts car haha

Re: Take a look at this hack job...
He says...
'(I can get the original black Laced Pontiac wheels with tires for $250)" I'd say GET THE CROSSLACE WHEELS! $250 would be a good deal for just ONE. I typically see the wheels ALONE, no tire, go for $400 for one, in really good shape. He says he still has the original nose. Might consider that, instead of hunting one, unless you already have a spare, or can get one cheap.

Re: Take a look at this hack job...
Yes, I recall this one on e-bay a long time ago. I remember because of the plexiglass covers on the brake lights and the front bumper cover. And that last photograph showing before the worthless hack job just ads insult to the injury. Someone should send an e-mail to this person telling them how messed up the made the car. They ruined a nice looking car. I would but I do not have e-bay account. Yumiko

Re: Take a look at this hack job...
well, after talking it over with my dad, im not going to put a bid in on this one. Simply because it will run me almost $1000 to go down to Florida and back again with my truck to pick it up lol
But it would be a nice road trip, I've never seen the ocean or Florida for that matter ![]()

Re: Take a look at this hack job...
Sure I will let you know, but I have not seen any GTA rims there for a long time. I know they will not trade parts for mine.
Also check out this "GTA 350" on e-bay. How misrepresentated....350 with GTA package. Someone should ask this person what is included in the "GTA package?" Also the vin number supports that it is a 305 engine. Again......Wonderful! Yumiko http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ponti...spagenameZWDVW

Re: Take a look at this hack job...
Here's also something you don't see every day....
Anyone need a Yellow GTA badge? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/YELLO...spagenameZWDVW And how about this winner, with only a 4k buyout http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ponti...spagenameZWDVW And these awesome 15" GTA wheels http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/trans...spagenameZWDVW I guess people really think that GTA enthusiasts are purely idiotic thinking that these are good deals and could slip one by. One reason that I'm glad I know mine is a real GTA and to do my little bit to educate the people who want to purchase a GTA and get into the hobby and not get ripped off by people who do this crap.

Re: Take a look at this hack job...
Personally I do not believe that it was the same car. I just think the guy found a file photograph on the net somewhere of the same make and model of vehicle and then just put it down as a "before" photograph. Sort of like a way to say "this is the potential this car has." One thing for sure, if he were to return his car to the condition of the one that is in that "before" photograph, he would have no problem getting close to $3,000 for it. But now it would most likely cost him $8,000 in repares, replacement parts, body work and painting, etc. to get it to that condition again. Yumiko

Re: Take a look at this hack job...
I hope not. What I do not like is how this seller answers the questions at the bottom. Sounds to me like someone I would not want to do business with. I like the first question/answer. I wish I could tell the seller why the person thinks that there are two separate cars. It is obvious like night and day. The one for sale is an increadible mountain of trash and the other one that the buyer is not getting for their $2,000 is in good conditions. Yumiko

Notchback Collector

Re: Take a look at this hack job...

However, it is "rare" being a convertible, though it does not have the desirable powertrain combo. It's mileage isn't collector status low, but it's decent. It also has some options that make it better, the "GTA" (ultima) seats - which were not standard on the Trans AM, and they're leather. Sure, it needs work. It has the typical paint issues that these cars are known to have. The rims are incorrect and the front clip is ugly. But the car is "rare". The work involved is probably easier than being able to turn the clock back on your average 3rd Gen F-Body with 100K miles on it, that you commonly see, for that type of price. I think the guy got a decent deal. The car could clean up well and be sold for a considerable amount of more money than it sold for. Look at the current pricing for the TA convertibles. I could also being biased because I also own a '92 Trans Am Convertible.

Re: Take a look at this hack job...
I agree with you there JeremyT
But like I said, after thinking about it, the extra $1000-1500 in shipping/pickup costs just didn't make it a nice deal for me overall. I'll still be workin on the notchback another year hehe

Re: Take a look at this hack job...
Well I would say that if the leather seats that are in it are on the RPO sheet and the convertable was done at the GM authorized place and documented as such, I guess it may be a rare car. I am a serious picky person and demand only highest quality on stuff, so maybe that is my problem. That is why my GTA is my obsession and for me to keep it completely in mint conditions. Yumiko

Re: Take a look at this hack job...
I agree. The car does need some work, but the only way to find out is thru documentation. As for how I do my car, I'm trying to do things that don't detract too much from what the car is. Even with the engine DOA at the moment, I'm planning on keeping that block just because it came with the car. What's inside of it is another story and won't be known unless someone asks.

Re: Take a look at this hack job...
Did anyone see the question/answer at the bottom of the auction? I liked his the "Go to the junkyard for one of these hoods and you will not find it" soft of response. If he said that to me, I would have replied, "Yes, go to the junkyard and find a Yugo hood and you will not find it also." So it really does not mean just because you can not find it, means it is worth a tremendous amount. Yumiko
