PHS services,again

Thank you very much everybody for your responses. The exact response I got, signed by Jim,was "Due to internal reorganization, the vehicle info on 1987 and newer Pontiacs is currently unavailible thru PHS." I applied on April 30th and got this letter back on May 2nd. I really hate it if this is true, that paperwork and window invoices are just the icing on the cake to owning a Pontiac,as I am sure you all know.Would love to talk to Jim by phone, but have no idea how to contact him.I also own a 1994 T/A 25th convertible, would like to know which # of the 250 built it is! By the way,my GTA is more fun to drive!

Re: PHS services,again

If that's the case, try contacting Pontiac Cares.
1-800-pmc-ares.
They may be able to help.
I would give it a try.
Great to see you also have a 25th Anniversary.
You may want to check out:
http://www.30th-ta.org
They have a 25th section in their forum.
I have a friend who may be able to roughly give you a car number for your 25th. TADan.

Good luck,

George

Re: PHS services,again

I talked with Jim yesterday and this is something that has been done by GM, not Pontiac. Apparently somebody at GM is blocking PHS access to the factory invoices for cars 1987 and newer. They still have all the other stuff that makes up the info packages.... just no factory invoice.

He said they are hopeful it will only be a temporary situation and that they will again be able to provide the complete package in the near future.

I hope they are able to correct this soon. I can not see any reason GM would want to block this information. Tandy

Re: PHS services,again

Hi southGTA,we live near a dot on the map called Summer Shade, which is close to another dot called Randolph,in other words, way out in the stix!Everyone in the area knows what a Trans Am is of course, but you probably could not find 3 people in the area who know what a GTA T/A is! To tell the truth,I did not know myself until AFTER I bought a 1987 11k mile WS6 T/A a few years ago. There is a nice grey 87 GTA in this area tho, near Glasgow,is that you? I plan to retry with PHS soon, will post Jim Mattisons reply,no luck at all on info on my 94 T/A,not as important, would rather own 2 more GTA's anyway! Thanks,Pete

Re: PHS services,again

Here's what they told me 8 days ago...

"Hi Steve, the following information explains the ordering process for GM vehicle invoices:

The General Motor Dealer Invoice service is managed by Allied Vaughn, a tier one supplier of GM. For copies of a GM vehicle invoice, please email the attached request form to vehicleinvoice@gmmediaarchive.com <mailto:vehicleinvoice@gmmediaarchive.com> . As of March 1, 2005 the cost for this service is $50.00 per invoice. If paying by credit card, your account will be charged within two business days of fulfillment. Fulfillment is expected to take 2 to 3 weeks. If paying by check or money order, please mail your check or money order and a copy of this form to:

Allied Vaughn
11923 Brookfield
Livonia, MI. 48150
Attention: GM Vehicle Invoice

Check or money order payments may cause a delay in fulfillment, as it must clear before your order is shipped.
Invoices are available for vehicles* in the following model years:
Chevrolets since 1977
Pontiacs since 1987
Buicks since 1982
Cadillacs since 1980
Oldsmobiles since 1977
GMC since 1976
*Fleet and exported vehicles excluded

Please feel free to contact our local management team with any suggestions or concerns. Email or call:
Chris Barkoozis, General Manager
Allied Vaughn (800) 462-5543 ext 105
Chris.Barkoozis@alliedvaughn.com <mailto:Chris.Barkoozis@alliedvaughn.com>

BE SURE TO CHECK OUT www.gmphotostore.com"

If I was selling or showing mine, I might spend the $50. For a driver, I KNOW mine are GTAs, not fakes, so it really doesn't make sense for me to get one.

Re: PHS services,again

Now on the PHS website they have this announcement

Quote:
ATTENTION:

As of May 1st, 2007, prices will increase on all information packages.

Information packages will be $50 and $65 for all information packages requiring "fax back" service, in addition to being mailed.

International orders will be $60 and an international "fax back" service package will be $75.

Pontiac Historic Services
But still have this up

Quote:
By supplying Pontiac Historic Services with the VIN of your car, along with the other information listed on our "Order" page, you will receive the most complete historical background and VIN information ever offered by any automobile nameplate.

The information packet from PHS will include the following:
A copy of the factory invoice or billing history
A letter decoding the options (when necessary)
A copy of a dealer order form for that year
Other specific information for that year and model Pontiac, if available
See our "Order" page for ordering information, pricing and payment options.

Re: PHS services,again

sounds like GM won't let PHS have them so they can sell them themselves. weak. i guess i got lucky. i ordered the PHS packet for mine in late 2005 AFTER gmmediaarchive started charging for the invoices, but my PHS packet was only 35 and included the invoice.

i was lucky enough to get the original invoice for my 1986 2.8L firebird from gmmediaarchive BEFORE they started charging, mine was free. back then there wash a girl working there (jennifer?) who was in charge of the mediaarchive who was a gearhead herself and sympathetic to our needs. she actualy registered on TGO just to keep us car guys abreast of changes in policy. what a cool chick. too bad that are not more like her at GM.

Re: PHS services,again

My wife and I tried to see if it was a fluck and we got the same letters stating that the information was not available for cars after 1987. I tried following the posts above, is there some place else we can get similar information? The worst part about this is that I can't get a factory window sticker because I can't get a PHS packet...for either of my GenIII cars. Grrr...
