Spring is here...the 3rd gens are out!

This past weekend was really great weather in my area. Saw a couple 3rd gens and 1 GTA. The great weather we're having must be bringing them out.

Awesome! Lucky you, and all those who have these. On Saturday I saw a pretty mint condition 84ish or about that year Yellow Camaro. Later on I saw a 87ish white Camaro in pretty good shape for the age. The Yellow Camaro was driven by an older guy and I imagined he's probably the original owner. The White Camaro had a really young kid around 18 or 19 years old driving it, which I thought was pretty cool that a younger generation would enjoy these cars. In the evening around 7ish I was walking down town and saw a blue Camaro parked. It was in fantastic shape so I had to just stop and take a good look at it. The owner came up and was getting in it so I commented "nice Camaro". She stopped and talked to me for a bit. Turns out she's the original owner of it. I asked her if it was a '84 or '85 and she said it's in fact an '87.

And on Sunday (yesterday) I saw a black Camaro and a bright red GTA. The black Camaro was maybe a mid 80's model and was in decent shape for the age. I'm not sure of the exact year of the GTA though but I'm guessing it would have to be '87 - '90 though because it wasn't the '91 - '92 pointy nosed style. It was in awesome shape. I saw both these cars on the freeway going in the opposite direction then I was going, so I was just able to catch a fast glimpse of them.

I've gone a few months without seeing any 3rd gens so it was amazing to see all these this weekend. I figure it's the great weather we're having that brought them out.

I can't seem to get TheBigRedCar out to save my life.
Every time this year so far that I've tried to plan a drive, it rains. But I'm gonna make it out there one of these days....

Re: Spring is here...the 3rd gens are out!

I ran across a Camaro out in town yesterday. I stopped and took a pic of it and the owner came over and talked with me about the car for a good bit. A really nice guy with lots of enthusiasm and love for the 3rd gens. I asked the year and he said it was an '88. He added it's the same year he was born which I thought was pretty cool. Factory vert. auto 305. Total diamond in the rough. It's in the stages of being restored, so was completely wet sanded down with bits of body filler here and there. Says when he's done it will be triple black. It's going to be one sharp ride and I told him I'll be looking forward to seeing it painted.

I'm thinking I'll set up an online photo sharing account and then post links to all the 3rd gens I come across. 20 years ago that wouldn't have meant nothing since you would see these cars daily everywhere. Not so much anymore though. I'll post the pic later.

Had mine out a couple weeks ago and braved the cold for a benefit show at the college where my son got his automotive technician certificate. He brought is Grand Prix GXP to show. We were the only two Pontiacs there.

Well, thank you. The wife and I really enjoy spending time with the kids.......even at the ages of 22 and 25. We are so proud of both of them. They have taken the bull by the horns and are shining examples of their generation........something you don't see much of.
