Vader is home...

That is all.

A few minor adjustments and kinks to work out but other than that...all is good.

Re: Vader is home...

Yeah that was me. The thermostat froze up on me and I started to over heat. The guys from Zeus came out and put a new thermostat in for me and then I was back on my way home. Don't know what happened...they said the car had been driven around breaking it in, run like a dog on the dyno, and let sit and idle at the shop with no problems. It was weird. I think it was my cars way of telling me it was pissed off at me for not getting it back on the road sooner. After that, the rest of the trip home was uneventful and went smoothly.

I'll let the dyno sheet speak for me. As soon as I get it scanned I'll post a copy of it eventhough it isn't near what was expected out of it.

Re: Vader is home...

What you all have been waiting for...It sounds more impressive than it turned out. It looks good though and there is tons of room for improvement. There are a couple of other possibilities that I'm looking into at a later time to help bump up the horsepower ratings. Although I'm digging the torque since I can spin the tires while I'm rolling which I think is pretty cool.

Engine Type: Eight-Cylinder, V-Design
Valve Design: Overhead Valve
Cylinder Head: Aluminum, Corvette 113 Casting (56cc chambers), 1.6 Aluminum Roller Rockers
Bore/Stroke: 4.030 inches x 3.750 inches
Pistons and Rods: Keith Black -18cc Inverted Dome / 5140 SIR Lightwieght 5.7-in. connecting rods
Displacment: 383 cubic inches (6.3L)
Compression Ratio: 10.5:1
Camshaft Duration:
-- Intake: .520 @ .050 - 212 degrees
-- Exhaust: .528 @ .050 - 218 degrees
-- Lobe Seperation: 110 degrees
Fuel Injection/Manufacturer: Multiple-Port Style, Accell 26-lbs./hr.
Intake and Runners: Edelbrock Aluminum TPI baseplate (ported) / SLP LTR (ported)
Fuel Requirements: 93-Octane Unleaded

Brake Horsepower / Torque Ratings (RWHP/TQ):
254 HP @ 4500 RPM / 362 FT/LB @ 3300 RPM

Re: Vader is home...

They don't close the track here in Fayetteville as far as I know unless it's bad weather. T&T just now moved back to Sundays so I'm sure that I'll be heading out there before too much longer. I'm thinking that I'm gonna have some serious traction issuses...

Re: Vader is home...

seems a little low to me. probably because of the heads though. are they just stock 113 heads? are your runners and intake stock or upgraded?

The heads were just milled to clean them up. I didn't have anything special done to them that I'm aware of. The intake and runners are the same ones that were on the car before it went down. They were just ported while they were off the car this time.

yeah i'm sure the heads are the cause of the lower #'s then. if you got some porting done and bigger valves put in, it'd push the #'s way up.

Re: Vader is home...

That's definately something to consider for a later time. I'm just glad that it's home and running since I haven't gotten to really drive it since March/April time frame.

Re: Vader is home...

Sorry I wasn't able to get up there to see you and the car, I was busy getting my car out of the body shop. Glad to hear that it's running well. Since the words out I'll voice a thought about the results on the dyno. I think if you'd have gone with the modified LT1 intake and the more aggressive cam Eric and Jay recommended your HP would be knocking 300+ and would have balanced out with the torque. I'll have to admit though that I'm more a fan of torque than all out hp so I'd more than likely stuck with the TPI as well. Hope to catch up with you and the car in April at Auto Fair.

Re: Vader is home...

It is too bad that the hood does not fit perfectly around the area of the headlights and turn signal lights. Has anyone ever asked the manufacturer to try and modify their design? It looks nice, it would look even nicer if it was perfectly fit in relation to those two areas. Yumiko

Re: Vader is home...

It doesn't fit just quite right because it's fiberglass. The body shop and the garage said that after the hood has sat for a month to put some towels down and put some weights on the hood and leave it for a day or so. The heat from the sun and the weight will cause the edges to sink and the lines will match up. The guys at the garage have similar hoods and they had the same problem when they put them on their cars. So, in a couple of weeks or so I'll give that a try and let the car sit.

Re: Vader is home...

Let us know how that works out.... im curious if it works.

Strangely enough I actually like those hoods but the fitment issues will keep me away.
