Re: Update on the GTA

Since I didn't win the auction, I REALLY need to get my 300zx finished and sold. Unfortunately I might have to sell my first car too 1991 Caprice with the 9C1 package. Has the 5.7 350 with the digital dash. But I guess its funds would be going to a good project!

Re: Update on the GTA

Well i've been polishing my wheels, 1st pic is the one i'm working on and the 2nd pic is just a dirty one, also got the steering wheel wrap on, it looks ok not as great as I though but better than the nasty leather grip. LOL my powerball is junk so I had to quit halfway through!

Re: Update on the GTA

Are you cleaning these rims while they are on your car? It is much easier to remove the rim from the car and then lay it on something that is higher up and clean them that way. Wow, it looks like you have a lot of work to do.

Re: Update on the GTA

Yeah, when I get a new powerball I will probably remove them. Man that brake dust is tough to get off! I sure do have a lot of work but I love the car! I can't think of a thing this doesn't need though!

Re: Update on the GTA

Oh I see. So what is this used for? Is it to be used to wax a car or scrub dirt off?

Re: Update on the GTA

I like the photographs that you have posted. A lot of details that they show. I hope that you will take more during the entire process of restoring it. It is nice when you have completed the process to take the photographs of the car completed and then you can show others the before, during and completed stages of the process. I did this with my own GTA and for a few years after my GTA was completed, my friends would refer to these photographs that I had taken and put into albums as "The Baby Pictures". This was true until a few years ago, now I have real baby pictures, of Sarah our daughter.

Re: Update on the GTA

So did you have to travel far to get it back to your house or was it near your area? You would be surprised to see how my GTA looked right before the restoration process started. It was a lot of work and I can sit sometimes and still remember how many bolts connects specific parts together. I guess that sometimes we have the biggest project in our entire lives as a hobby, just one which is the biggest one out of all of them. In my case it was fate I guess that the biggest hobby project in my lifetime was to have my GTA restored. But I did it primarily because I could still remember how my GTA was when it was brand new and the very first day that I drove it on my own without the car dealer with me like on the test drive. I remember that moment so clearly but so many years after. I promised myself and the car that one day it would be again the way it was when it was brand new, so many years before. That was the most powerful motivation for me to have done to my GTA what was done to make it new again. And some times, not too often but some times when I have the chance, I will just go into the garage and sit inside of it alone by myself and think about all the fun times in my life I had with my GTA and the friends that I had in it with me. There were hard times and good times, they are about the same in balance. And I always walk away thinking that I made the journey all the way with my GTA.

Good luck on your own GTA restoration project.
