305 no more......

Well, I did it, the 305 is no more, It is now an LO5 with Hot flat tappet cam, and better heads (350).
The performance improvement is stunning, with absolutely no loss in driveability.
Still only got 80 miles on the new motor, so im still treating it gentle like.

Don't baby it!

Drive it like you stole it! It doesn't take very many miles to find out if anything is seriously wrong with the new engine. The more you baby it, the longer the break in period will be. Which means, the longer it will take to achieve max hp & fuel mileage. Of course, this is just my humble opinion =)

I agree. Mine has 110 miles on a fresh rebuild and has been down the strip three times already. If something is not right inside, you'll find out the minute you open it up, whether it have 50 miles or 50,000 miles on it. Congrats on the new motor.
