I love NXT wax from meguiars
http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/produc...?T1=MEG+G12718

Realize it is not a cleaner wax but wow what a deep shine on metallics!

I like nanowax. It shines up my truck beautfully and goes on and off very smoothly.
Right now I need to worry about getting some paint on it.

Re: Should I buy it? (91 GTA)

Well, I got to look it over today and do a little bit of maintenance.
I replaced a burnt out marker light and both fog lights, checked the air filter and throttle body(K&N and both spotless), adjusted the TV cable, and inspected a spark plug to see what they were looking like(acdelco platinums, looking pretty toasty). I also climbed all around it and checked out the undercarriage and there is very little surface rust anywhere, even the exhaust is pretty damn clean.
It has a occasional miss/rough idle it has developed, so I'm going to do the spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor and run seafoam through the intake system before changing the plugs. I will probably add an accel or MSD coil and ignition module while I'm in there.

Get the MSD coil over the Accel coil, you will be glad you did. Oh and dont forget to get an AC Delco ign module.

I had the accel coil on my 87 GTA for 5 years and it was flawless, so I am a little partial to them. I also plan on NGK G groove platinum plugs as they have always done me very well. Why do you say to get the delco module? Nothing high performance out there worth buying?

Re: Should I buy it? (91 GTA)

For some things, like the ignition module, OE is just going to be the best bet. If it's lasted 20 years, it's probably worth it.

Re: Should I buy it? (91 GTA)

I'm gonna have to go against the grain on this one. I'm going with the accel ignition module for 1 dollar more than the delco. I'm also going with a hypertech 53K volt coil, cap and rotor, and taylor spiro pro wires.

Ignition system: CHECK.

Actually, a few years ago, I asked the same question to a MSD tech guy, and he told me that they could not get any better results out of their own, so they just went with the Delco ones. He said they had better results out of them than any other brand. As for the Accel brand you had on that 87, it is different, the remote coil imho, tends to be a little temper mental. That is why I use the MSD ones, but if it fails I have my trusty OE one to put in as a tester.

The one on the 87 was a remote coil and I had it mounted on my pass. strut tower. Like I said, it worked great for years and many miles. This time around though, I am only using the accel module. The coil is going to be hypertech since it has 5K more volts than any of the others summit has.

Hmmmm, that is kind of odd, my wife had an 87 GTA and it had the coil in the cap, like the older stuff. Go figure....

That is odd. I thought all GTA's had the remote coil. Maybe some one switched it before you bought it??

Re: Should I buy it? (91 GTA)

Naaa, I dont think so. It would be too much of a hassle to wire it back in to the factory wiring harness. Not to mention it had all of the factory wire harnesses. It was all oe stuff. Maybe the car was an early model. If it was, then its just another reason for me to kick myself for selling that car.

Will do as soon as the weather clears up so I can pull it out of the garage. I also want to get it tuned up first and get the occasional miss gone.

Here is a link to the video I shot yesterday after giving it a complete tune up. It's not much, but it will do for now.

Re: Should I buy it? (91 GTA)

Now go steam-clean the engine bay and you'll have a great-looking, great running ride!

You NEVER steam clean the engine bay of a fuel injected car. The steam can get places that liquid water can't and corrode connections and so on.
But yes, it will be getting a thorough cleaning soon by a friend of mine who does detailing.
