New 17x9 GTA Wheels On My GTA

I put my new wheels on a little over a week ago, but I didn't bother with trying to pull the car out of the garage since the roads and weather were pretty crappy. Yesterday was a decent enough day to pull the car out and grab some pics. The tires are 275-40-17 Yokohamas and the additional width fills the wheel wells VERY nicely in comparison to the stock wheels and smaller tires. The lower profile tire sidewalls are also more attractive.

Very nice. I assume those are the ones offered through Hawks Third Gen? I like how they fill the wheel well. I was noticing how "GOLD" they are. Are they really that bright or is it the camera exposure?

It's the color temperature of the photos... they're not really that bright.

Those look awesome. I assume there is no front-to-rear difference in the setback?

All four wheels are the same, but two small spacers are included for the front wheels so they'll clear the strut brackets.

Re: New 17x9 GTA Wheels On My GTA

Those rims look nice but they look just like originals. What size is the original rims on these cars? I thought they all looked 17 inch which seems pretty standard on cars. 15 inch seem a bit too small.

Re: New 17x9 GTA Wheels On My GTA

I accidentally deleted the photos in my image hosting album. I see that this forum doesn't give users the option to edit their posts, so I couldn't fix my original post to include links for the rehosted photos. SOOOOOOO... here are the photos that got deleted in my original post.

they came stock with 16" like mine..
Stock is not a bad thing just bigger so fills the wheel wells better

It's just a one inch difference, or 1/4 inch at all sides. That's pretty small of a difference. So I take it you can't go too much larger then the factory 16 inch rims before it starts rubbing on stuff?

Most cars come from the dealer with 18 and 19 inch rims these days I would guess. Has anyone thought about an 18 to 19 inch rim? I'm guessing it would be rubbing though.

since the 245/16 size are rare then it opens up a lot more tire sizes

If you purchase the correct size tires when purchasing a larger diameter wheel, the overall diameter will still be the same as the factory combo. A 275-40-17 tire (which is what I have) is the same overall diameter as the factory 245-50-16 tire that our cars were originally outfitted with.

Sooooo... if you want to go with a larger diameter and wider wheel and not have interference issues, the wheel and tire sizes I recommend are:

17 x 9 wheel / 275-40-17 tire
18 x 9.5 wheel / 275-35-18 tire
19 x 9.5 wheel / 275-30-19 tire

Again... those wheel and tire combos I listed will be no taller than the stock 245-50-16 tires which means NO RUBBING.
