That's excellent Bill!

And a pretty rare little GP in the foreground to boot. 3.4L DOHC? McLaren Turbo?

McLaren Turbo. We have two of them. That one and a black one. Red one was bought with forged internals and a bigger turbo and tune. Supposed to be 350hp at the wheels but the tranny never got upgraded so we dont know. Its actually going to the tranny shop soon to get it rebuilt. The black one is a "project" at this point that just sits in my driveway. Took the turbo off to rebuild it right after we bought it and it kinda stopped after that. Daughter bought a driver's door to replace the bad one(bought that way) and then she lost interest. Glad we never titled it. It may not ever get back on the road lol. Got the red one for $1500 and the black one for $700. I will eventually redo the black one but it may end up being a 3400 top swap turbo instead of a 3100 turbo. Its already got a reman motor in it so it wouldnt bother me modifying it.

Re: 2017 Trans Am Nationals

Nice! You'd don't see may of those anymore. I used to be on an A-body forum when I had a Buick wagon. A fellow with a 6000 Wagon added a McLaren powertrain to it. Pretty cool. Would love to see that setup on a 3.9L.

Re: 2017 Trans Am Nationals

The red one is my son's and its does have some serious scoot to it. I figure the black one will be more stock with a little modifying. My son also has an 06 GP GXP thats his DD. It basically running an open exhaust and really sounds mean.

Re: 2017 Trans Am Nationals

For those going to the show, I just heard about this.

On Saturday down in Norwood, they are having a "30th Anniversary Commemorative Norwood Celebration and Car Show" with first camaro ever built.
https://www.norwoodlegends.com/events/

"Friday, August 25th, we will host a pre-show gathering welcoming the Trans Am Nationals down to Norwood to give a walking tour of the plant grounds at 6:30pm."

I think it is normally it a little more than an hour drive, but with traffic at that time of day I would add 45 min.
There isn't much left over at site but they may have some good stories.

Re: 2017 Trans Am Nationals

Couldn't tell ya about friday night activities. Didnt kniw about them until it was too late lol. We rolled in about 4:30 yesterday. Left the GTA in the trailer until this morning. Backed it out, wiped it off, registered, went through tech line, and parked it lol. Taking a more relaxed approach this year lol.

Re: 2017 Trans Am Nationals

Was a great weekend. Dave i got your note and i am sorry we didnt get to meet. This year i kinda stayed away from the GTA or else i would have spent the whole weekend cleaning lol. Hopefully next year. I did however get to meet Roadrunner. He actually caught me checking on the GTA. It was very nice meeting you and i apologize for not getting to chat longer. With all these shiny TAs and Firebirds, it gets hard for me to stay focused in a conversation lol. Hope you understand.

As for the event itself......larger than last year, judging was a little more consistent and well, I took second in class this year. My class was one of only two classes that had five awards. We had quite a few participants. Not sure about next year at this point as i am planning a big trip with the Mrs to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Will have to see how the budget goes.

Re: 2017 Trans Am Nationals

Congrats on the second place Bill! We rolled in late on Friday...Wanted to leave at 8am, actually left at 5-6pm. Oh well. One of the first things I saw when I parked the trailer was...your trailer! I should have planned better ahead of time in any number of ways (obviously), including getting your phone number. But no regrets about the weeks of thrashing to get there. It was a great event.

What class were you in Bill?

Did you make it to Tipp City?

I will get the photos I took hosted and posted soon.

Re: 2017 Trans Am Nationals

Congrats Bill. What took first?

Thought about everyone all weekend. I really wanted to be there but I couldn't make it happen with my training schedule.

Looking forward to pics if someone can post them. Thanks!

I have always been in class G-1..........modified 82-92, so look for me there lol.

I did make it to Tipp City. Great time! We were on one of the side outlets.

Aaron...........I don't remember the name of the person who won the class, but he was either in shock he that won or came off like he knew he was already gonna win. Im thinking more along the lines of the latter because he also won one of the memorial awards and acted the same way. Really brought a bad light on our class considering he did have a really nice TA that was deserving of winning. Kinda sad.

We missed ya not being there!

Quick side note. There were quite a few GTAs there, BUT only one took home any hardware, which I felt honored doing so since this is the 30th anniversary for the GTA.

Re: 2017 Trans Am Nationals

Oh for goodness sake...I walked right past your car dozens of times. We were in G1!

Your car is fantastic! I told my wife it would be in my top 3. Either you or the red Formula that was car or two down form you. Not sure he was in G1 though. I also picked the blue and silver car as being a top 3. So I guessed pretty well.

Love the Anniversary cars. One of these at Mecum Indy is what got me interested in having an F-body again.

Loved this one. Spent a good amount of time talking with the Grandfather, Father, and Grandson owners of this one.
