Re: 1988 Gunmetal Gray Metallic

Greg Thanks for all the comments here, good discussion. If I can send someone your way, looking for the analog gages, Ill be sure to do so.

rhomanski, Even though Ive got about 160,000 miles less on mine dosent mean I havent enjoyed it. Ive kept it completely stock like the original owner did and love the hell out of it. Taking this car to the local drive in and watching heads turn is priceless. Bringing it to the local show and winning is also a great thrill, this car has won. I enjoy keeping the miles off. Every time I take her out for a spin or to a show Im getting more enjoyment per mile then if I took for granted backing her out the driveway every day. Like Greg said , Im not trying to start anything just stating my point of view. Its a "to each there own kinda thing"

Metalman66, thanks for not taking offense for what I said about the digital vs. analog dash stuff. Both look great in my opinion. Like I told someone here on this board, I hope you get a great price for your car because it will determine what people will pay for mine also (and vise vera). Also people have been very helpful on this site. Someone suggested that it would help if I posted some original paperwork. So I did and it would help you to do that too. I just posted my January 1988 Dealer Invoice, MSRP Window Sticker, my In-Transit sticker and the Pontiac dealer thank you letter I received then, in the 'Member Albums' section. Greg

Re: 1988 Gunmetal Gray Metallic

I understand. A friend of mine bought a new Thunderbird in the 1980's. He drove it home, put it up on blocks in his barn and it sits there to this day. It has 37 miles on it. He has a 1948 Chevy pickup that is his daily driver.

Honestly, the Thunderbird was a present for his first wife. When she complained about it, he parked it. Got rid of her and continued on. True story. I've gotten a lot of chuckles over that through the years.

I wonder if the old Thunderbird would even start now? Pistons are probably rusted in place. Maybe he coated everything in oil? I guess you can remove the spark plugs and pour oil or something down the opening to coat the internals.

Yes, he preserved it pretty well. Shouldn't take much to bring it back.

Re: 1988 Gunmetal Gray Metallic

The gray GTAs are one of my favorite colors.

There were a few outstanding examples at TA Nats this past year. One had paddle mirrors and the another belonged to a forum member who sold it. He now has one of the nicest Camaro 1LEs I've ever saw, with all of about 5K miles.
