My "other" ride...
Is a 2002 durango closing in on 200000km (Going to be taking a huge chunk of change away from my fireturd)
What are the typical 200000km mile stone replacements and maintenance that should be done? Planning for full fluid change out...This includes: Power Steering Brake system Coolant Oil Transmission Transfer case, Front and rear differentials Im going to go for Amsoil synthetic for my 4wd system Changing out following... PCV Valve and cleaning breather lines Front pads and rotors, rear drum shoes and springs O2 sensors, front and rear New magnaflow muffler New battery thinking of Redtop or Yellowtop. not sure which is better for my application. Vapor canister is being replaced and all the hoses associated with it, theres cracks/damage somewhere along the lines causing codes to appear. Sway bar end links Getting an alignment done as well. Considering: Set of emissions compliant ceramic coated headers but the cost is very prohibitive New catback instead of just a muffler GR2 shocks for all 4 sides 8 Platinum NGK plugs are done (12000km ago) and 4 of the ignition coils were done at the same time as they were out of spec. Both front 4wd bearings were done. My left CV joints do click and chatter when making hard turns but the boots aren't cracked or open so...I don't know if I should consider replacement. Forget the fuel filter, you have to drop the tank to get at it as it's directly integrated into the fuel pump assembly. Am I missing anything? And how would I check ball joints, just raise the truck up and start jimmying the wheels to check for play? I can't even begin to price everything just know to take it to a shop will be well over $750 just for fluid changes alone...bleh

Re: My "other" ride...
I would definitely change the ball joints, and install Moog Chassis parts of course. As for the fuel filter, that filter is nothing more than a screen. Imho, I would just replace the entire assy with one from Napa, and be done with it. Dodge trucks are notorious for fp sending unit problems. Also, you can go to www.dodgetrucks.org and you can get alot of info there as well.
I used to have a 98 Dodge Ram 150 2wd, and had to sell it when gas hit 4 bucks/gal., but I really did like it. Anywho, hth

Re: My "other" ride... 1985 fiero
Quote:
I had an 84 Fiero that drove me nuts. Occasionally when the key was inserted, it just wouldn't crank. The lights would come on, all gauges registered, just no crank. I replaced every part you can imagine, but no dice, even the computer. It abandoned me one too many times and I sold it to a kid for $750. He called me a few days later and said 'Hey, that ignition problem? I got a new ignition switch and keys from Autozone, $30. Fixed the problem perfect!" I forgot the simplest fix first. And that dang car, 4 cyl. with 4 speed, got about 38 mpg and handled great. Wish I still had it... Anyway, not sure if it's the same issue, just figured I throw that out there... .
