Hmmmmm, I bet a set of 3.73's would go great with that intake.

Re: BBK new intake for TPI cars.

If it adds 50 hp, then it can be as ugly as it wants.

Re: BBK new intake for TPI cars.

A 50 hp boost to a stock '88 IROC?! That along with a set of Vortec heads and you'd have 340+hp on an otherwise stock 350 (according to their claims). Wonder if it would be too much for a 305........

Re: BBK new intake for TPI cars.

i don't believe it could give you a 50 hp gain, if it did it would have to give up a ton of torque to achieve that. i'd have to see if to believe it. just like people claim turning up the fuel pressure to 50 psi or whatever it is will give you 50 hp.

Re: BBK new intake for TPI cars.

It looks very similar to the pizzabox from Accel.

Interesting looks.

I bet it does give 50hp gain on a very well maintained stock 350. But thats more than likely NOT 50hp at the wheels. Think about all the extra horses that you can get by running just straight engine on an engine dyno with no accessory drag or rotational loss...

Re: BBK new intake for TPI cars.

Looking at the dyno graphs, it appears they only gained 9 peak horsepower. Their 50 hp gain is at 5074 rpm. We all know the TPI setup is not intended for higher RPM's. I don't really see it as an incredible difference. IMO

They (BBK) should have took that car to the track instead. Thats where it counts.

I thought the reason our engines didn't make power at those RPM, was the airflow...If they have come up with a better design to improve flow, wouldn't that raise the powerband higher on the tach?

Re: BBK new intake for TPI cars.

Actually its b/c of the long tube design on the runners.

And from what I can tell it may raise it a little bit but not much.
