Re: Headlights not going down
There is a little black plastic box mounted on the firewall beside the brake booster with a couple plugs, that controls the headlights. If they both started doing it at the same time, I would look there first.
With mine one started not coming up but then would come up again when you turned them on again. Then the other one started not coming up. One night at lunch they both refused to come up for about 3 cycles of the switch. That's when I broke down and replaced both motors. If they both had refused to move at the same time out of the blue, as you describe, I would have gone for the relay box.

Re: Headlights not going down
But would a failure in the control module cause him to not be able to lower them manually? I admit, simultaneous mechanical failures seems a long-shot, but from the facts he's given us, it seems like he ought to be able to lower them using the knobs.

Re: Headlights not going down
when I got my car both motors stopped working at pretty close to the same time. When I opened the motors they both had the plastic dust from the white bushings. Replaced the bushings in both of them.

Re: Headlights not going down
If your not used to them, the mechanical lower can take a little bit to work and you may think it's not working. Mine went at the same time but they gave warnings. First one wouldn't come up, then when I cycled the switch it would but the other didn't. Cycle again and probably both would, maybe. Until finally neither came up for three tries, on the fourth try they both came up. That's when I got off my butt and changed the motors. They were operating different though, not in unison as he was saying. His complaint is vague and maybe I'm reading more into it than he meant.

Re: Headlights not going down
Update: I got one headlight to go down but it does not lock in place, i can just pull it up by hand, as well as it will not go back up with the motors. I also figured out that the switch is no good. Is there any good place that i can get one?

Re: Headlights not going down
First up.... welcome to The Source Page! I don't believe the switches are available from GM now, Brian but Auto Zone shows a brand new switch on their app that retails for 16.00.
