Re: 92 GTA Registry

Hi, I found a 92 GTA in rather rough shape it's a 5.7 hard top car interiors clean but definately needs some tlc on the exterior car has 160k and 4 wheel disc current owner said it was a dual cat car but exhaust has since rotted away anybody have a rough idea of what its worth in this shape?

Re: 92 GTA Registry

Probably 1000-1500 if it still runs.
Hard to say without seeing whats underneath. If the exhaust rotted off, what else is on the verge of rotting off. I'd look at the floor pans and trunk well to see how much rust is hiding underneath.

Re: 92 GTA Registry

says it still runs and drives strong apparently exhaust started to rot and broke enough that he cut it off so it needs a full exhaust.merc your right in the ball park on price exactly what i was thinking basically worth that in parts

Re: 92 GTA Registry

I started a 92 GTA registry about 12 years ago. Cars on forums, ebay, junkyards, etc. I also have the VIN of every 1992 Firebird built. I also have the registry for 91/92 Firehawks. I don't make any of my registries public however except to other verified owners who ask to see it for certain reasons, just due to privacy.

Let me know if you would like to exchange notes.

Sticker price on mine was $27,380 plus SLP package. Total dealer price before CA tax was a hair shy of $30K. Yeah, stupid expensive for back then.

Re: 92 GTA Registry

What's worth more in the long run 92 gta 5.0 T-tops and a 150k or 87 gta 5.7 hard top and 90k?

I think that depends on a few things, if the 92 is a desirable color combination and painted in one of the 4 25th anniversary colors, then the 92. However if the 87 has the paddle mirrors and is a desirable color combination, perhaps the 87.

People who like the 87-90 style seem to hate the look of the 91-92. However most 91-92 people have no problem with the older style, we consider it "classic" GTA haha j/k :P

Plus there are people who prefer MAP over MAF (I sure do!!!), course 90 also had MAP, some like T-Tops (again, me, can't live without them!), etc.

150K is ALLOT of miles but looking at classic car collecting in general, both of those have way too much mileage for it to affect it's value. Perhaps if they have less than 20K yeah, but that high it doesn't add one bit so with the 87 having 90K, doesn't mean a thing to most buyers in the future. It's all about the condition.

Re: 92 GTA Registry

New member. Recently acquired a 92 GTA, build date August of 92. It's red, t-tops, 305 TPI, auto aluminum rear drum brakes. My question I have is I googled the vin and apparently it matches the last GTA built vin. Originally a California car. If someone that has the right information could pm me, I'd like to know if this is in fact true. Thank you!

Re: 92 GTA Registry

Sorry I forgot I registered here. It's got around 116,000 on it. Needs transmission and engine work. Sitting in the garage collecting an inch of dust at this point. Still very interested in finding information on this car if anyone knows how to go about researching its vin and build date.

Unhappy Re: 92 GTA Registry

Have a non-running 1992 Y84 GTA medium green metallic with black leather interior. 3 owners, clean history. Hard top L98 700r4. Aluminum driveshaft/rear drums & 3.23's. Power everything. High end option CD player! I believe the build date is July 1992. It has 68K on odometer and has been parked in storage for the last 10 years with a rear main seal leak and a dead fuel pump. I purchased a 4th gen with a T56 about 10 years ago and lost excitement toward the GTA. Nevertheless, I still plan to get the GTA on the road again, just not sure when.
