Re: new radio

I have had two different aftermarket stereos in my GTA, a Kenwood and an Alpine flip screen stereo and both of them you have a choice of four different colors to choose from. This means that you can make the stereo four different colors to choose from. I always chose the same color to match the rest of the dash board lights. I am sure the new ones are just like that too.

Since I hardly ever drive my GTA over the past ten years now, I was more happy to remove the aftermarket stereo and put back in the original factory one, since it still works perfectly.

My only advice to you is get the wiring harness adapter because then you will not have to cut any of the wires and so at a different time if you are like me and want to put the factory one back in, you can and there is no repaired cut wires to indicate that a non-factory stereo was ever installed in your GTA. Good luck.

Re: new radio

Not only for that reason, but also after I wanted to remove all of the stereo equipment and put back in the original stereo, all that had to be done was to unclip the adapter harness and then just plug back in the car wire harness directly into the factory stereo, no cut wires or anything like that.

Re: new radio

The one that I had was really nice, but I do not drive my GTA often enough to really enjoy it. And there were too many extra wires in the system that I had so I just got rid of it all and actually I am more happy with the factory stereo that is back in my GTA again.

Re: new radio

Where can you get one of thos plug harness adapters ?

I'm think of taking out the orig stereo, but like to keep it so orig goes back in easy for resale.

Re: new radio

I would think that you could purchase these from a good auto stereo store. I got mine in 1999 at the GoodGuys, but they have gone out of business since then so I do not know exactly where you could get one now, especially ones that fit the factory stereo harness in our GTAs.

Re: new radio

I had the 1.5 DIN CD unit that Pioneer used to make in my black car for a while but pulled it out because I couldnt make the steering wheel controls work. It was a great unit and had great sound but I am pretty sure it isnt available anymore. We have the wiring and installation adapters at Walmart in the Automotive department.
