Re: My SLP T-RAM install

How much are Dons headers? And do they match up to stock exhaust or does he sell a Y pipe too?

Re: My SLP T-RAM install

www.top-downsolutions.com sells the headers for Dyno Don now. You're looking at about $530 for coated headers and an additional $230 for the y-pipe. When I got them from him, I just PMed him on TGO and made arrangements for him to build me a set. 2 weeks later, they were at my door.

Re: My SLP T-RAM install

Man that thing is huge! I'll have to disagree with ya though, stock heads and cam suck lol.

Speaking seriously though guess that intake would have a shorter runner length then say the superram no?

Hey if your looking for some larger injectors I have a set of 30Ibs and a lightly used set of FMS 42Ibs ones I'am wanting to sell.

I've tried advancing the timing to 10* base, but the car was running hot so I'm just doing a 6* initial timing per the computer's specs and playing around with the spark advance table to get me the best A/F ratio without running hot. I still haven't finished tuning the fuel curve. My datalogs still show me to be running slightly LEAN in the upper RPMs even with the increased fuel pressure. I guess this thing flows monster air. I'm close to maxxing out the 22# injectors.

Oh the headers are still shorties. Dyno Don took the SLP headers and basically fixed all the problems with them and added his own design cues. There's an article somewhere on TGO that compared to Hooker Super Comps, the Dyno Dons only gave up 6HP in the upper RPMs. Not bad for a shorty header made for our cars huh? And without any of the headaches of longtubes. I've put in a set of Hooker Super Comp longtubes in a 3rdgen F-Body, not mine. I'm NEVER doing that again.

On the fp; I wonder why it wont go any lower? THAT would drive me crazy... BTW, since you are maxing out the inj, are you soing to replace them with 24's?

Oh, and on the long tube headers, I dont blame you one bit. I would not even attempt to do that. If I did, they would probably have to commit me to a padded cell afterwords...

24# injectors are next up on my list. Tony, you wouldn't happen to have a set of those would you?

I'll let you guys know how my long tube headers turn out, I'am in the process of installing everything and making my own intermediate pipe, should be interesting.

Re: My SLP T-RAM install

Thanka Bud. I hope these injectors are the same length as the previous Design Bosch Injectors. Because the fuel rails are cast into the manifold, the T-RAM is real picky about what injectors are used on it.

Check out Fuel Injector Connection, their Bosche Design III injectors are top notch.

Re: My SLP T-RAM install

Hello, I am new to this forum but have been an on/off member of TGO since 1998. I also have a T-Ram and can lend some knowledge to your future mods. I have a 1987 IROC that I purchased in 1990 that I have modded since day one and currently has a T-Ram sitting ontop of a set of AFR 195 eliminators, custom Comp HR with .583" lift and split duration 230 - 236 cam, ZZ4 shortblock, etc for mods.

If you are truly running lean with a stock 350 the intake is leaking. SVO injectors are shorter than the Bosche by a good 5/16" I bet you had problems getting the injector to fuel rail connection to stop leaking and pushed the injectors all the way into the upper plenum / fuel rail? If so, you now have a vacumn leak at the base manifold.

I would pitch the stock heads and GM hot cam as far as possible ( Ebay?) and pick up a set of AFR heads and a HR roller cam with a .500"+ lift and 222 or more duration. Then get a good local tune. This will get you into the low 13's / high 12's.

I also wouldnt do anymore grinding on the T-Ram for the throttle cable. These things are worth money, but doing things like that will knock thousands off of the value. You need one of these - http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...acket003-1.jpg

Google T-Ram, there was a guy willing to sell one last year. I dont know how many were made but it was less than the production numbers of the intake.

Yes, that is on my car.

Enjoy the T-Ram, they are rare and work alot better than any TPI based intake other than a SR. The super ram is a good intake but, it is a PITA to install and IIRC is not emmessions legal. The T-Ram is due to the EGR provisions.

BTW, this is the guy / company that designed and manufactured the molds for the T-Ram - http://www.falconerengines.com/

Feel free to email me any questions you regarding the T-Ram. I have been playing with mine for more than 10 years.

Re: My SLP T-RAM install

I know this is a GTA site but I am sure there is a soft spot for the more pedestrian IROC's. These are my hobby cars -

87 I have owned since 1990, test fitting the SLP ZR-1 knock off rims - http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...Block34036.jpg

And the 1990 convertible with a 350 crate, SLP 1 3/4" headers and Borla cat back - http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...le17SLPwhe.jpg

Re: My SLP T-RAM install

Dave, I actually spoke to you some time back and you helped me out with the instructions and the pictures to your T-RAM. I wanted to say thank you very much for those.... they helped out a great deal and made the install that much smoother. I am definitely itching to get better heads and cam, but the car needs some attention in other places before I can change those out. I also didn't grind the plenum. what you see on there is a piece of heat wrap that I put on so the cable is rubbing on something smooth rather than directly on the plenum. I'm having the bracket redone to fit better.

Both of your cars are the two IROCs I would buy exactly. Metallic blue with the 350. Always were sharp looking.

I got the T-RAM running right without the automatic tranny kickdown bracket. I have someone lcoally fabbing one up, but as she sits right now, she's actually shifting better than with the stock TPI.

Re: My SLP T-RAM install

Fred,

Glad I could help, didnt realize you authored this post. I would highley recomend installing a cam and decent set of heads. It will feel alot different. Toss in a 2500 stall and you will be amazed. Low 13's in a TPI based car feels fantastic. Punch it at 30 mph will PLANT you and your passenger in the seats.

Re: My SLP T-RAM install

Thanks Dave. I actually justg bought a set of Trickflow 195 heads and a Comp Cams 276HR-12 cam for my car. I'll probably be doing the swap sometime at the end of the season. As far as the stall is concerned, I think I'm just going to trash the automatic altogether and get myself a T56.

Yes..He does the Y-pipe too. I bought a set from him last fall. I'm very pleased with them as they fit great and looks great with the ceramic coating. And yes...they are the 1-3/4 tubes...Go to TGO's website and pm him. He'll get back to you on price.
