If I remember correctly that is correct, but I started getting a local trans shop to do it, and I feel much better about it now.

Yes, that is the correct procedure. You push the detent button, slide the cable all the way back, then release the button and floor the accelerator to set the TV cable.

Re: New video of my GTA

I think I may have done that backwards. I pushed the release tab in and moved the cable housing forward.. I should go back and pull it back and then allow the gas peddle to set its tension? Sorry just want to get it right thanks for the help guys its been a couple of years since I installed my tranny and did this.

Exactly. Pull the cable back towards the tranny and then allow the gas pedal to set the tension correctly.

Re: New video of my GTA

UPDATE:
I did not have WOT in the video. We checked it out today and the only way to get WOT is if I literally grabbed the steering wheel and pressed down as hard as I could. We put two lock washers on the cable right at the pedal and shimmed it up. I can now get WOT without having to press with all I have, but it is a little touchy now at tip in.
I will make a new video on tuesday or wednesday when the weather clears.

Re: New video of my GTA

Anybody have a part number or suggestion for an adjustable throttle cable? The one I got from thirdgenranch seems to be stretched alot or something and I'm tired of laying under the dash adding shims trying to get WOT.
Once I have that problem fixed, it will be time for more video.

Re: New video of my GTA

Let me know how the new cable works, I've got the same problem with mine where I have to really shove my foot into it to get above 4.8V on my TPS. Best I can pull off is about 93% throttle according to the TPS.

I haven't taken any measurements yet, but Lokar has them in lengths from 24" to over 100" inches made supposedly for the TPI. I will go to Summit in the next few days and check them out and get what I need.

Re: New video of my GTA

Alright, I came up with a fix although it was an expensive one. The cable Lokar sells is not designed specifically for our cars and would require alot of fab, so what I did was cut the throttle body end off of my stock cable and replaced it with the adjustable end off of the Lokar cable. It took some precision to get WOT and also not hold the throttle open a little bit, but I got it just right and now have WOT.

Re: New video of my GTA

Hey man, I'm interested to know, when you went under there and swapped out cables, was there a lot of insulation on the firewall? I tried changing mine out and could not get it out without ripping the insulation out.

Yes, some insulation must either be cut or pulled out of the way to get to it.

Yep, when I can get traction I am definitely pressed in the seat.

Re: New video of my GTA

Here is the latest video. It still wasn't full throttle due to the short road and lack of traction, but it gets the point across. I will make a good full throttle run eventually, I just need to find a safe road.
