hawks rear spoiler
for those who have purchased and installed a hawks rear spoiler.what % would you say the fit is out of 100.i've seen some where there is alot of daylight underneath.i had one priced today from davidt.com i nearly fell off my chair.875.00 plus shipping and taxes.i told them i didn't want to buy the whole car.that's gouging at it's finest.hawks is 399 plus over 200 freight to canada plus duty taxes but still outrageous.i can see the 399.what to do.any other canucks on here know where i can locate one without breaking the bank.

Re: hawks rear spoiler
Honestly its so hard to find one for under $400.00 probably impossble unless u get lucky on like a auction on ebay!!! So $400.00 is what u will pay for a new unpainted wing!!! And yes shipping sucks but something that just cant be negoiated for less!!! Good Luck!! Hawks is a very high-end shop so quality well be excellent!!!

Re: hawks rear spoiler
Sorry Moddman, I spent almost $750 two years ago to get one. The problem we face in Canada is the exchange, then the shipping (almost $200 right there) and then duty and taxes on top!!!
But I did luck out this past summer and found a perfect Bright Red urethane spoiler and paid all of almost nothing for it as the whole stack (and I mean stack) of GTA parts I bought plus the spoiler came to $350.So as a number of Canuck members can tell you, the prices in the US look attractive, but the shipping, duty and exchange very quickly kill you. There are alternatives, but I believe the moderators will very quickly kill any posted suggestions of below-board activities ![]()

Re: hawks rear spoiler
The fit on mine is 99 out of 100. It didn't fit over the factory mounting clips, but my body shop was able to cut them off and sand them to the point that I thought they'd replaced the window molding. It was put on with their mounting clips and a sealant, and hasn't budged since. It fits beautifully and everyone thinks it's original until they touch it. Then I get the "WOW! That's not the original??"

Re: hawks rear spoiler
I did the install myself and it took all of 45 minutes. The factory mounts on the window frame can still be used. The plastic tabs in the urethane spoiler, no. I did post my instructions a while back.
In addition at TurboTransAm.com, someone did a very complete install with pictures. I agree with Bucket and TC, the fit is very close. |

Re: hawks rear spoiler
MY factory mounts were in the way. My spoiler was just a HAIR too narrow for the factory mounts to fit under the new spoiler.

Re: hawks rear spoiler
I can say that My GTA has the original GM Spoiler... and yes like most it has begun to spilit inspite of the fact it hasnt seen sunlight in almost 2 years. My TTA has a Fiberglass Replacement and inspite of the cost I highly recommend the fiberglass. This is a one time repair that is second to none. As far as big ticket items on these cars, its not any more exspensive that a good set of tires or even nice exhaust system. You can do it right.... or you can do it twice. We have all tried to repair these GM " JUNK " Spoilers and none of us have been able to get a long term fix out of them. The problem is they rot from the inside out and thus making repairing them properly imposible without manufacturing a new one from the mounting hardware out....
