Website Revamp

Well, folks, we are getting started on the Source Page revamp.... slowly, but surely. Just wanted to elt everyone know what is going on. Hopefully we'll have some new stuff for you all to take in soon enough.

What does everybody think about the forums here and some of the new features that have been added? Satisfied.... not? Opinions wanted, please.

Re: Website Revamp

Truefully Frankie, I haven't noticed a difference as of late. Also, I also haven't been visiting the forums much either.

On the other hand, if things like access speed, picture size and resolution, etc. are being improved that's great.

For me, the biggest thing is the history/restoration aspect. I can do the mechanical (and am learning the electrical/tuning), but I really ove where these cars came from and potentially where they are going.

I like the category separations, personally. Much easier to process.

Wink Re: Website Revamp

Those of you who like the site layout, never fear. It has to be set up so that yours truly can use it, so there's not chance it'll be too technical in nature.

But the look and layout will be different, but better and more easily accessible. What we've done so far is worlds better than the current style of the web site.

Re: Website Revamp

Another FYI for you all here: LOU WASSEL will be a regular contributor to the revamped Source Page as well..... "View From Detroit: Then.... And Now"

He's agreed to come on board and share some of his memories of the GTA years and also his views on other automotive topics of interest as well.

Can't wait for this to get going.... should make for some interesting reading.

Re: Website Revamp

I have done some professional website/interface design. I suggest for your main page to not center all the text. It is not very professional looking and Just scrolling down to one drop down is not good navigation. I would suggest a menu at the top or side (frame?) I do like the forum but the engine is the same as thirdgen.org except in black. The people make the site!

Re: Website Revamp

Mike, your points are duly noted. The appearance and ease of navigation have already been addressed. I'm not so worried about professional looking so much as easy and enjoyable to get around in. I think one will follow the other to a large degree.

Or at least that's my plan....

Re: Website Revamp

As Frankie previously mentioned, this should be covered. The site will use a navbar similar to that of the forums to keep a uniform look and function. Part of the goal was to help make navigation easier, as well as to facilitate with page updates.

Frankie's website started out as a personal website, and while it's the source for GTA Trans Ams, over the years it still has a personal touch. I think Frankie wants to keep that personal touch. As you mentioned, it's not just the website, it's also the community.

If anyone has any ideas, I'm sure Frankie will take note and I'll work with Frankie to assist.
