Re: What Collector Car Insurance do you use?

I looked into this insurance myself for both me and my wifes Formula 350, but the bad thing is that they have to be stored in a locked garage when not in use. I don't have a garage right now, but if I did they'd both be parked there together.

SCREW GRUNDY! They ask for a phone #, I don't have a phone, as I have no freaking voice! And they haven't responded via email. And yes, I noted on the online app. that I had no voice, email only. SCREW THEM!

People take their ability to talk. I keep seeing thing online *Phone Number Required". If I HAD a voice, I'd have a PHONE! Am I getting tired of this happening, and getting just a little more than pissed off? YOUR DAMNED RIGHT I AM!!!!!!!!

They haven't responded in about 2 weeks!

Re: What Collector Car Insurance do you use?

Yeah...For a Modified vehicle, it has to be a 1986 or older. So, they won't extend coverage on a 1987 (like mine) as Modified. Maybe I'll look next year, but I doubt it. The message that popped up, guess what? "Please call 1-800xxxxx...." SCREW THEM EVEN MORE!!!!! An email contact, wasn't even an option!

Re: What Collector Car Insurance do you use?

Hey, TX_1987_GTA,
I was just curious, was that Suburban photo taken out off Hwy 87 by the Canadian River? It looked a bit familiar for some reason. I grew up in Amarillo, spent 30 years there. In Austin now, but miss the quiet and the really good people.

And I thought I was the only GTA in Austin!

I know I'm not, but every time I see another Firebird, it's a TA. My buddy owns a TTA, but that car has been down for a heart transplant for a while.

Yes as a matter of fact thats exactly where it was taken..... In the Meadows at the Canadian River. We go there to camp & ride quite regularly.

Heh heh, I thought so. I spent many a day loooong ago on dirt bikes up there - back when I was young and skinny and a Suzuki RM100 was all you needed to have a blast over an entire weekend! Y'know, cooking potatoes in foil on an engine block or shooting squirrles with .357's!

I'm sure the erudite social set here in The People's Republic of Travis County would call that 'redneck', but I do miss those days!

Hey, Joe.... great to see you back here. Hope you had a happy holiday.

How's the TTA "reconstruction" coming along?

Re: What Collector Car Insurance do you use?

I went with American Hobbyist
http://www.americanhobbyist.com/
Requirements were 1 registered car per licensed driver in the household, stored in locked garage, no daily use, but no mileage restriction, and no model-year restriction as long as the car is considered "limited production". I don't know about age restrictions for the driver but their customer service is very good so you can call and ask. I pay about $200/year on $10K agreed value. I don't plan on ever filing a claim unless the car is a total loss or stolen. I just wanted the car to be legal without paying $1000/year for the few times per month I get to drive it.

Re: What Collector Car Insurance do you use?

Kevin's policy sounds pretty much like my Grundy one, except for the part about only one licensed driver per car.... my wife is also on both of our cars too.

Mine went up in agreed value this year.... some kind of inflation-guard deal, according to the renewal. But I pay about $280 per year for each car, with an agreed value of $15,000 on each.

Re: What Collector Car Insurance do you use?

Sorry - let me clarify. The American Hobbyist policy requires you to have another registered vehicle for every licensed driver in the household. So, in essence, both my wife and I (both licensed) must have a daily driver beside the GTA. She can be on the AH policy, but she has to have her own vehicle besides. It's simply to avoid insuring a daily driven car as collectible.

IIRC, the reason I didn't go with Grundy was because my car was in the restoration process and not worth a whole lot and Grundy wouldn't insure it (it was only a 15 year old car at the time). AH insured it as it sat and let me increase the agreed value as the process progressed.

Re: What Collector Car Insurance do you use?

My TTA's are with Grundy, they seem reasonable and have been good so far. Cost me just under $1K a year for all 4 insured at realistic, not inflated values. Though I eventually plan to have the cars appraised and will adjust the policy accordingly.

They wont insure my GTA though because they dont do racecars

Re: What Collector Car Insurance do you use?

I will be going with Grundy also. $215 a year for 300k liability and an agreed upon (appraised) value of $13,000.

Re: What Collector Car Insurance do you use?

I have my Formula with American Hobbyist under their modified policy. That covers any year, make and model. The usual stuff, no mileage restrictions,no daily driver use, no backup use, locked garage/shop and must have another licensed vehicle just as another poster mentioned. I pay $202 per year for $15K agreed value coverage with no deductible and that also covers up to $500 in parts I have in storage. I'm getting ready to renew and increase my value to $20K which will cost $280 per year. I have to maintain a liability policy with State Farm due to North Carolina wanting to be difficult with collector/specialty insurance.
