4th gen wing on 89 GTA

What modifications would have to be done to put a wing from a 4th gen trans am on a 3rd gen car?

Re: 4th gen wing on 89 GTA

You will need to buy some fibreglass to build up the two center bases and build up the inside of the two parts of the wing that go onto the hatch glass. There is a gradual gap on these two arms on the inside near the hatch glass that needs to be built up. You will also need to sand down the tips of the arms where they blend to the line of the sail panel and the back window. Just use the old aerowing as a guide as the 4th gen tips are boxy and square. You can run your brake light down one of the center columns by drilling a hole through the column and another new hole in the deck lid. Once the two ceter columns are built up you need to screw in the studs and attach new studs on the ends of the wing. Then mark and drill more holes in your decklid. I think I drilled 5 holes and filled in all the others as they just didn't work. The best thing is get a decklid off an old v-6 car Camaro or Firebird with no spoiler. That way it saves you filling holes and you still have your original decklid if you want to go aerowing again. If you need any pics let me know and I can email my install process and the finished product. All in all it was a good experience.

Re: 4th gen wing on 89 GTA

Was looking for the cheaper route... thinking about just buying the 4th gen style wing now... the actual 4th gen wing I found is messed up beyond reasonable repair....
