Possibly the fakest GTA ever?

I couldn't help but notice this firebird. Apparently, someone has already brought it to his attention that the car is not a GTA but he hasn't ammended the description:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2428402727

I love the desciption: Turbo fuel injection..huh?
150 MPA tires...what?? and whats the deal with the rear seats, are those notchback seats?
Take note of where the fender emblems are.
But wait, it gets better, the buy it now price is $16,500!!! What a bargain.
I'm sorry, I don't normally slam peoples e-bay ads but help me out here guys, am I out of line?

Oh no, the GTA police is out again! LOL
He did add a postscript saying it was not a real GTA. But the price is still ridiculous.

I am getting sick of everyone selling parts on Ebay and saying they came off their GTA like steering wheels and especially seats when you can tell they are plain T/A or firebird parts. Everyone's trying to get a $$$ of the GTA name. Irritating!

Those are notchback rear seats, as well as the decklid itself, clearly seen by the underside.

Re: Possibly the fakest GTA ever?

....not sure but someone should email the seller and have them check RPO codes for AA8. The only way you could get the factory notchback was in the GTA. Chances are this is legit as it has the correct back seats for the decklid. My guess is it IS a GTA.....

That was my guess as well. Not everyone would go through the extra mile/trouble by doing the seats as well, since some miss that.

Especially since finding an original decklid and rear seats aren't that easy, or probably cheap for that matter.

I think it's flattering that they want to immitate our cars. Considering the popularity of the 4th Gen TAs for their power, and the 1st Gen for their rarity. The 2nd Gen are a bit higher on the popularity scale than the 3rd Gen but our GTAs are in a class of their own, IMO. I always get comments from people who say "those cars are bad", or "are those original seats, wow!".
What ever they do to immitate our cars, it doen't matter, we can spot them no matter how hard they try.

Re: Possibly the fakest GTA ever?

I thought it was a GTA! Everything looked right except for the emblems. My sail panel bird is in the wrong place and the nose is missing! This guy just doesn't know anything about these cars.

like ozzy said, i think its an ego boost when someone tries to play there firebird off as a gta...everyday another GTA is off the road for good..so theres less and less of them...

the thing is..guys like us who have GTA fanatics for some time can spot fakes...or like the the notch in question, sometimes there such a good example we have to question it lol

So I guess whoever tore this seller up about not having a "real" GTA should check into it a little better next time. This guy probably didnt know exactly what the car was.And when people list on ebay and put GTA in the title it dosent mean that it came from a GTA.Its used in the listing to get people to look at it.
