I only see one pic of the car. But from what I see in that one pic, I would say it's a great price for a pretty much unmodified, completely stock third gen GTA in very good/great shape.

That thing has a rear wing I've never seen before.

The mileage is what is likely holding the price down.

My browser may be the problem, but no additional pix load even if I click on the little boxes in the article.

Looking at the results, it appears more votes are in favor of the price then are against it. $5K is a great price for that car IMO.

It appears to be a good looking car for the money. But...may not be a real GTA. Has T/A fenders.

Oh wow, thanks for posting those up. I'm not able to see those on the link when I click on it. I'm sure it's probably a browser issue.

So she's got fender vents. Probably not a GTA then. Still isn't that bad for it's age and what it is. I can't remember when I saw a 87' to 90' Pontiac T/A in person last.

I can't say I've ever seen that type of rear spoiler on a T/A myself. I'm thinking it's probably from a Mitsubishi Eclipse or something along those lines. Definitely something that would need to come off right after taking possession of it (for me anyways).

I'd say if she's running good and shifting through all the gears nice, it's still a good find for the price.

Yeah, the spoiler has to go. But not a bad looking car.

Just wish there was a definitive way to ID a GTA for all years. You just never know if this is a GTA that had a front end accident and T/A fenders installed, or a T/A with a bunch of badges and seat added.

My guess is it's just a T/A. The only thing on it that says "GTA" is the fender emblems. I'm also guessing that these type of seats was an option that could be purchased with any Trans Am, Formula or Firebird. I'm saying this because I read somewhere either on this form or on the Third Gen forum that this type of seat came standard on GTAs.

In the end, I don't think it will really be a big deal in the upcoming future, because these are 30+ year old cars. I'm basing my assumption from, for example, 60's Mustangs. Seems any 60's Mustang goes for bucks these days, regardless if it's all original or not, regardless if it's got rare or not so rare options. Sure there is a price fluctuation between the two, but pretty much all of them are not cheap these days. Same goes with the 69 - 70 Dodge Daytona or the Plymouth Super Bird. Some go for more then others depending on condition and all, but overall, getting hands on one takes a rather large chunk of cash regardless.

If I were to be able to purchase this T/A listed above in this thread, first thing I'd do is remove that spoiler and get the "correct" one put on. Second I'd get rid of those GTA emblems if in fact this car is not a true GTA. Putting GTA on a non-factory GTA is just plain tacky, IMO anyways. Sort of like I see guys driving around in 80's 4-banger Mustangs with the 5.0 emblems on it. Just plain tacky.

Interesting Jon. I thought those seats were unique to the GTA.

Either way, I agree on value. While purists won;t want it, someone who just wants a nice F-body to relive the '80s in will get a good deal here (it would appear).

Interesting "fix" on the console side bulge. Hard to tell but don't think it says GTA on map pocket. Fender GTA emblems are wrong color.
With all the things wrong, I don't think its a GTA either.
Overall condition looks relatively good though.

Yes, you are correct, they were for the GTA. When I say "standard" what I mean is, they came automatically with GTA's. But from what I picked up on throughout my research into these cars, the same seats were also available as options with other birds, such as on the T/A, Formula or Firebird. I know someone can confirm this who has way more experience and knowledge then I do on this form.

Those GTA seats came as standard equipment on at least the GTA's, maybe even the Formula's. But they also could be ordered in other's such as the standard Firebird but as options purchased for additional cost.

Maybe I'm wrong. But seems I read about that either on this site somewhere or on Third Gen. Anyone know the definite answer?

I saw that too. I mean, from a strictly street-rodding / hot-rodding fix it yourself at home point of view, it's not awful. But for as many of those as I've sen fixed with glue over on TGO, I think I'd go that route, and keep it looking original.

Oh yeah, I got what you meant...std. on GTA. I just thought the GTA was the ONLY place you could get them. But I am not the expert on this by any means.

LOL, well I'm no expert on these either. Just something I think I picked up on throughout my research on them. The seats aren't the only things either. I think the gold rims and rear spoiler were other options that could be put on other birds such as the base Firebird as an option with added cost, but were standard issue for the GTA. Again, I may be wrong on that one too. I think I'm going to pay the authenticity page on this forum another close visit soon. That's maybe where I read it.
