I bought it....89 GTA 5.7 Vert

I posted on the Facebook page but deleted due to that page being public & don't like old friends knowing about my 3rd gen issues. I bought the red one out of CA that I'm sure some of you saw. This is my 3rd, 3rd gen convertible. I also own an 87 & 89 IROC as well as an 89 IROC 5.7 ttop car.
I know most don't like the verts because they "flex". The purpose of my collection is to driverify on occasion & take to shows & improve them anytime possible.
This will be my 1st GTA but I did have an 86 WS6 T/A that someone converted the outside to KITT. I was too embarrassed to ever drive that one & the furthest I ever drove it was down the driveway until sold.
I think the 3rd gen HP cars (GTA, IROC, T/A, Z28 & B4C) cars are still extremely undervalued. The GN & TTA have taken off but I'm not into all out fast cars. I drive them to appreciate the little time machine factor. I like hitting the garage door opener & seeing them in the garage on any given day & hoping in to take a drive up the road yo get s doda. I run historic plates on them, so I'm limited to 1000 miles/yr anyway.
I'm pretty excited & flying from Missouri to CA in a week to drive her home. I'll get a feel for t g e car in my 1700 mike journey. How many times do you get to take historic Route 66 in a convertible for 1700 miles!

Nice looking GTA. Good luck with the drive though cause it's not exactly the best time of year to be driving one of these cross country. It's raining in some parts of Cali right now and snowing in some parts of the country with salt on the roads.

Thank you. Yes, could be scary going North but staying deep south. Bad weather is possible but should be far enough South.

She's a beauty rarebmx. Congratulations on the purchase!

Have you been working on a Route 66 plan? Lots to see and do, lots to avoid, not always well marked.

DynoDave. I've not done much planning yet. We are going to try & make it a 2 day trip.....25 hrs. I have no issues driving 14hrs at a time but it could possibly run into 3 days. I'm paying a friends way out to drive back with me. First day we'll arrive around noon in Ontario, CA, then wrap up details & drive the car for maybe 6 hrs to Arizona. Then wake early & hit the road. Whatever happens, happens I guess. We'll hit a spot or two but for the most part DRIVE. Shipping out some tools & parts so I have some spares just in case. Kind of winging it. That should be the fun part I guess. It will be a story for sure.

Day two of the trip back to the Midwest. Car is doing well. Headlight motors are weak & will need rebuilt or swapped but car driving well.

What a great car for a road trip. Enjoy every minute!

Headlamp motors...a job we'll all have to do some day, if we haven't already. I know one of mine was replaced be the dealer for the 1st owner. And so far so good. But you know that original is just a ticking time bomb....

Cool ride for a Rt. 66 trip. Hope you got the top down for some of it. I have done about 3/4th of 66 in my '07 Vette convertible. Have to get Arizona and west someday. Drove my '89 GTA T-top to Mt. Airy NC early October - first long trip in that car. The Vette is a manual and I have to admit, I did enjoy not having to shift the GTA.

Nice car, I have an Iroc vert as part of my TG affliction. Wish I had more time to drive them. My GTA has Ttops, I keep them out all summer. Enjoy Rt 66
turning cold out here on the East Coast.
