Digital Odometer question???

Occasionally a couple of the pixels in my digital odometer reading will black out making a 4 look like a one or or an 8 look like a 7 ect... Currently there are 42,734 miles on it and it is the bottom of the 2 and the vertical pixel in the 7 that are out.
Often times it is this way at start up and then after driving a few miles the numbers are all good again. I am worried that the odometer could die completely. Does anybody know of a way to get this repaired without jeopardizing the integrity of the original odometer reading?

Re: Digital Odometer question???

the chip will be fine inside as its either an NVRAM or EEPROM of sorts.

The problem lies with your LCD, it could be a loose connection at the circuit board (PCB) or a loose pin on the LCD.
Only way to check that is to pull the dash apart and that is a pain in the ass. You can pop the face place off and see if you can wiggle the DIC around or the LCD GENTLY to see if it corrects the problem. But it does seem like its just a loose connection.

Yeah...mine died. I messed with it the last time I had the dash apart and it didn't help me. The one thing I absolutely hate about having the digital dash. Makes melong for the analog gages.
