87, 88 GTA's

is there something special about the 87 and 88 GTA's? cause it seems like everyone on this tech forum has only an 87 or 88. i got an 89 GTA. does anyone else have one? what is the difference bettween the 87,88 and 89?

This site contains production numbers for the different years of GTA based on options they came with. Consult the Trans Am timeline in this site for major GTA difference over the years.

1987 and 1988 were the years that had the highest production totals, basically. So there are more of those cars to be had. 1989 was the year the the price really started to climb on the GTA, and, in my own opinion, the production declined accordingly.

The differences between the years are minor, and are relegated to mostly technical upgrades (engine, etc.)
