Hi Guys,

I have new emblems for my 89 and need advice on removing the old emblems and adhesive. I don't want to scratch the paint.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Use some fishing wire and pull it behind the emblems, in a see saw motion being careful not to touch the paint, then you can just use rubbing compound to remove the rest.hth

Well I have to go and get the fishingn line, I heard on another forum that guys use dental floss buss I am unsure of the effectiveness of floss. I also have to get the heat gun. I just got out of the hospital and am recovering so it may be a week or so before I can post some results.

All this time at home is well spent researching how to do the job right the first time. I can't afford to wreck my paint.

When I had to removed my fender emblems:

1. I masked the area around the emblem with a couple layers of masking tape.
2. Heated the emblem up with a hair dryer.
3. Used a PLASTIC putty knife along the bottom edge of the emblem to slowly and carefully pry it up.

This left very little if any adhesive behind on the fender, and did not damage the fender or emblem at all.

I didnt think of doin it that way, the site im getting my emblems off of says to use fishing wire like FearThisGTA says to do...but i think i will try both ways to see which method is more affective, im guessin both do the job the same.

To give credit where credit is due, I think I originally got this procedure from your Frankie.
