Hi everyone.
Quick question. I have a U1A Delco CD/AM/FM radio I bought about 5 years ago to go into a GTA. However, I may have to sell it as the GTA may not materialize for awhile.
My question is, what would a fair price be? I have been looking on Ebay and on this site and have not seen one in awhile.
Thanks

Now we have got a Texas Highway Patrolman on this site and he's wanting a GTA.... folks, how cool is that? Just for your info, I don't speed in my GTAs when I come that way to visit friends.... I'm a cruise control man all the way! :D

As to your question.... those radios are not often seen anymore. I had one that I had refurbished through Delco and sold it several years ago, but for the life of me I don't remember for how much $$$. I believe on the radio repair and resale sites they go for a few hundred bucks in top condition. You might contact a few sites to get a better idea, but that's probably a pretty fair "guesstimate".

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight...I'll take your word for it. And I never went above the speed limit when I had my '90 Formula, T-tops off blasting 'Brown Sugar' down I-40. Yeah, 55 all the way, pal. You do believe me, right?

Anyway, I hate to sell it, but I really need to clean out a PILE of things I have accumulated and this is kind of in the way. I appreciate your guesstimate! Thanks, Frankie.

I could be interested in it. Give me a price and we will see.

Hey, scout's honor. Never had a ticket in 20 years of ownership.... two warnings (no signal on a lane change and once doing 50 in a 45 zone), but no tickets. On the latter, an Arkansas trooper ran my license three times not believing that my record had no violations; I told him that just because a guy had a car that would run 140 MPH didn't necessarily mean that he went around exercising it! That comment got a laugh from him and he let me go about my business.

Good luck with the CD player, and glad to be of assistance. I don't doubt you'll sell it pretty quick.

Nah, I believe you. The worst speeders I know are fellow Law Enforcemet Officers. I myself didn't really get it until me and my dear departed Formula met up with Bambi's mom about 3AM one morning doing about 85. Wasn't real fast, but enough to fatally injure my 'Bird. BTW, the left pop up headlight kept her from rolling over the hood, through the windshield and on to make a dent in my dense skull. I thank the Good Lord for His grace there. If I had been in my wife's 95 Grand Prix that little white tail would have been in my lap.

I appreciate the note on the radio. I started researching them to see how scare they are. I have yet to find one anywhere for sale, so now I am getting dubious about selling it. I think I may sit on it for a bit, just to see if another comes along and for how much. If they are this scarce, I'm not sure it would be worth $250-$300 now only to never find another one.

Sorry, beckort92gta, think I'm gonna hold off for now. But thanks for your interest. If your like me, your wife probably would pound your head for spending that much on a 17 year old radio. At least, mine did when I bought a few years ago for around $100.

My '92 T/A came from the factory with the CD player. It appears to be hard to find one that is in *working* condition as apparently the CD part goes bad. Of course, these units being as old as they are, I can't say I wouldn't expect the same if it was a home system. That said, I think people who are "original" guys (like myself) would only be interested in the units because they are old/outdated and because they are well known to fail (CD player).

It appears a common upgrade to install a 4th gen receiver in a 3rd gen. I know my '98 Blazer, without the Bose system, sounds entirely better than any of my GTAs, even the one that had the optional subwoofer option (UQ7).

If I am correct, I am pretty sure that stereo will not work with the steering wheel controls on the 1987-1989 GTA's. Just to let anyone here know incase they wanted to buy one for there GTA. Because that stereo came out in the Airbag GTA's. This has been one of my problems. I wanted to have a stock looking CD player for my car that would work with the wheel controls. You can get a late model Pontiac Cd player and it will fit with very little modifications and look great, but still no wheel controls. Sorry for getting off subject here.
take care
Mike

Hey Texas,
Do you have a picture of the CD player?

Is this it?

Texas,

Don't give up looking for a GTA! Formulas are nice but GTA's are a little cut above.

A radio/cd player just like that was on Ebay 2 years ago, my f-body/b-body buddy ( retired Norfolk police officer ) called me and wanted to know if I thought it was worth $250. Duh yea!!!!!!!

Its in his 90 IROC convertible. It was factory fresh still in the AC/Delco box. Hang on to that baby for your next 'Bird.

Any of you guys worried about what you wife thinks of spending money on cars I'll humbly say I feel for you. I am blessed with a wife never says anything, but I have to keep her in new cars and clothes.

;)

Hey TexasRaider. If you do decide to sell, I'd would like to be second in line behind beckort92gta. I want one as I am restoring/modding a green 92 GTA.

There was one on Ebay that sold for a mere $81 about a year ago that looked to be in good shape. I tried bidding on it at the last minute but I was blocked from doing so because I live in Canada and the seller would only accept bids from the USA.
