hello everyone... well i'm almost done with my swap. Since I had the stripes put on, i decided to go from grey interior to black... I've got all the parts needed (carpets ordered next month) and i'm trying to switch out the seatbelts. The top part of the front belts went in fine but the floor part isn't budging. Does anyone know if the torx bolt that's in there requires anything special to get it out (reverse thread or something) or is it just stuck? any ideas? its really annoying to be held back by two flippin fasteners. :(
Thanks,
cj

Hi cj:
It's just stuck. I recently swapped out the seatbelts on my 1980 GMC pickup and it took a breaker bar plus a piece of pipe - after using WD-40 for an hour.
I've swapped them out on Firebirds as well and after almost twenty years they do want to sieze in there.
Good luck,
Gary.

Try some of that Seafoam Creeping lubricant in a can. I know Napa carries it.

It is probably rusted in there very badly, because the threads screw through the bottom of the car. I know that the back seat seat belt bolt threads can be seen while under the car. And the bolts are soft metal so in most cases it will get damaged. Yumiko

Whats the condition of the bolt?
If its in good shape, check the underside where it bolts into.
If it still looks good and has no corrosion on it, its usually torqued on there real good. Make sure you have the RIGHT torx bit in there before you decide to do anything else.
If you have a slight bit of play in the bit, its the wrong one, I think its either a T40 or T45 bit you'll need for it.
You might have to put a breaker bar to it to get it free, because they put goo patches over the bolt holes to prevent any exhaust fumes from entering the cabin and it likes to super seal everything together. kinda messy.
But penetrating oil on both sides of the bolt leave it sit overnight and try again in the morning.

merc has posted some good advice.
We use PB Blaster lubricating oil on the farm.... best rust buster I've ever seen, period. You can get it at WalMart in the oil section; it's in the yellow can.... about $3.50 a can and well worth it.
