hi everyone. i was wondering if anyone knows if there was another name for beachwood carpet? i tried to order a new carpet for my car from year one and classic industries and both said that they did not have beachwood but had other tan colors such as camel and doeskin. are either of these the same as beachwood?
thanks,
Brian

Brian, I believe there were some slight coloration differences in those years' carpets; I'd ask for a sample to match your car's carpet color up with before ordering. Most places will provide you with that upon request....
That way you don't for sure get hung with a carpet set that doesn't match your car's interior.

No, I was told the same thing. The tan is not the same as beachwood at all. I ordered a set of front floor mats and the color is way off. They told me the beachwood was no longer avaliable from GM. Tandy

I'd be very surprised if anything was still available through GM. You can't even get floor mats from them anymore.
On specialized carpet like that, you're most likely not going to be able to get it from a resto parts house, either. Either go directly to an upholstery shop and compare swatches or to a carpet supplier, i.e. Auto Custom Carpets. If your car's carpet is original, it's not going to still be the original Beechwood color anyway due to fading over the years. Look for a piece under the trim somewhere to get the original color.
You'll have to go the sample route to match it up.

I have factory original mats that I acquired recently (one set of fronts, two sets of backs) from GM dealerships that are getting rid of of old stock. I found them on e-bay. But, these are medium gray. I would think that beechwood would be extremely rare and as Frankie suggests, taking a swatch to match is the best bet.

It sucks that beechwood seems to be a hard color to come by scince it was the most common color interior in the years it was used(1988-1991). All 5 of my cars have beechwood :(
