Well in the spring...I would like to get a new paint job I really would, I can't stand looking at my car from certain angles in the sun and seeing all those swirl marks and whatnot...and fix a couple minor things,etc... I expect to spend around $2500-$3000 talking to my brothers friend for the paint job and some bodywork...but I also have a loan to pay off for my car and have about $6500 left to pay off...bought my car for $7000 and got a $7500 loan...so I was planning with getting the whole paint job thing...but I am not sure which I should put my money towards that I will be making in the winter...keep in mind that my interest rate is very low so thats not an issue to pay it off quick...anyway here are three options I could "opt" toward...

1. Make my car look shiny again by getting the paint job and put money towards others things like new tires, aerowing, etc
2. Put my hard earned savings towards my loan to pay it off faster...
3. Get the paint job and whatever I have left put towards my loan...since I have no rush to pay it off

What do you think...I need some opinions lol...Thanks, Josh

LOAN PAYMENTS LOL

Take the car to a professional detailer to see if they can "buff" the swirl marks out of the paint.

They can do wonders with a clearcoat.

I say you pay off the loan. Its the most logical reason.IMO. Since you will be going to college soon, I would get it paid off so you will have less financial stress on you in the future. Your paint looks nice now. If your worried about the swirl marks. Just get somebody to buff and polish the marks out. But, my main priority would be to get that paid off, so you don't get in the hole anymore than you are. I saved my money and bought my car, cash in hand. I didn't feel comfortable letting my mother co-sign for a loan in the future, as I didn't want to put that burden on her. Because, if I couldn't make the payments it would put something in between her and I. But, there is no going back and I would get that paid off if I were you. You'll be glad you did when you get older. ;)

Josh, let me ask you this man, How bad is you paint you post about the swirls. Is it faded any?? IF not man alot of time you can take it to a detail or body shop have it wet sanded and buffed that will bring black back to life alot of times. Here is a shot of my truck I wet sanded and buffed it myself. I wouldnt suggest you do it unless you know what your doing. My truck is an 03 that sits outside all the time.

Dang Bucket. That truck is amazing. I love the SS trucks. Is it faster than the GTA?? If so, how much faster?? Is that a Magnum or a Charger behind the truck??

Well the paint isnt fading...but the swirl marks are reallying annoying and if you look closely you can see small little white chips in alots of spots (the hood)...and I have some dents and minor bubble rust issues...nothing major...I think if I can... I will spend about $2000 on paint and bodywork...and the rest on my loan...we'll see though...thanks for your input guys..

Get the car free and clear first.... it's more important to own it than it is for it to look like a million bucks.

Josh .... I am chiming in a little late but I would have to agree that paying off the debt is always the smartest choice .... although not always the most fun.

I would say that it depends on your situation really. If you have a very low interest loan on the car, have money saved up in case of an emergency to cover the loan for say ... at least 6 months ... and you can spare the extra cash to paint the car ... then go for it. If painting the car taps you out ... and you have nothing in reserve ... you would be crazy to paint the car and you should wait until you are in a better financial situation.

I will caution you for expecting perfection with any car. I have a 5k mile Corvette that's 100% original and has been completely babied but it's still not perfect. If you drive at all ... you will get a rock chip here and there .... and even brand new paint (especially in the 2k range will not be perfection).

I like the detail option myself .... you might just be amazed at what a professional detail will do to your existing paint :)

Alright thanks for the helpful comments everyone...I have decided...as of right now that I will put off painting the car until next year of whenever I pay the car off and have money...I figure it's alot more important to have it payed off then spend money on a car that isn't fully mine lol (still the bank's lol) and instead of using all this money for paint I will most for paying it off and I decided to buy myself a new computer...anyway thanks for the comments as always...and I can't wait to drive my car in the spring again lol...later, Josh
