What have you guys observed to be the average selling price for '91 GTAs that are solid, driver quality vehicles, but not show queens or anything?

4k - 6k
Really, that high? For a driver quality car that looks good but that has paint defects, needs minor mechanical work etc.?

If your car is comparable to this, then yes you can get that. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pontiac-Trans-Am-1991-PONTIAC-TRANSAM-GTA-1-OF-2915-MADE-LOW-RESERVE_W0QQitemZ320182263243QQihZ011QQcategoryZ6427QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
If it's not then no. You'll be able to sell it for 3k-4k then.IMHO

That sounds about fair, the 4K to 6K range. I called the local Progressive Insurance adjustor to inquire about my GTA's maximum cost of repair. He quoted me about $3400 for a good condition vehicle. The value goes up if it is in excellent condition, low miles, or it has been repainted, new engine and/or transmission, etc... They do take into account cost of restoration.
So anyways, since mine is a 1988, and it is valued as said above, it would be fair to say that a 1991 is actually worth about 4K to 6K depending on condition and miles. Some might be worth less, or more it just depends. To give you an idea look at some other TAs in this website: http://www.cars-on-line.com/firebird.html
This gives you an idea how much the price ranges depending on vehicle condition and miles. These cars, because of the diversity of conditions and mileage, will vary greatly in price from vehicle to vehicle. You will have to weigh in every aspect of the car and how much are you willing to pay.

I think we need to see pics for a definate answer.
Well see here in Canada...a car like that would go for around $7000-$10,000 depending on km's and its shape...but that's just how it work here unfortunately...I bought mine for $7000 with a $5000 rebuilt engine though and it was in really good shape but he was asking $10,000 so I got a good deal...but howcome in the States the GTA's are so much less valued than in Canada...it almost makes our GTA seem worth nothing down there when they are so very nice and have a good engine compared to some civics and whatnot that seem to go for alot more...just weird...anyway enough ranting....Later

Everyone's answers are right on but I will add just a couple of things to think about. Most .... (not all of course) but most people looking for these cars are either young drivers looking for a cool and fast ride but they don't have any or much cash or ..... they are enthusiasts like a lot of us and the are looking for original cars that are in very good overall condition.
Kuul is right in that we really need more info on the car. It's miles, real condition and any modifications made to it. Cars-on-line typically will have much nicer than average daily driver cars and many are collector grade vehicles so using it as a comparison may be give you an inflated valuation if your car is just "average" as you state.
So anyway ... not to complicate the answer but if you want to know for sure ... get it appraised by a professional. The 91 GTA's are rare with the 92's being the rarest of all and to find nice, low mileage examples is getting harder and harder each year. Having said that, I have seen some pretty nice 91's sitting for a long time without finding a buyer in the 4k price range.

3k-4k. depends on alot of variables... miles, amount of rust, interior, mods, anything rebuilt...

No offense Cliff ... but let's be realistic here. The guy asked an honest question and I think that he was given honest answers. Most banks won't even give a loan for a car with over 80k on the odometer and unless it's a "classic" or "collector car" ('91 isn't classic and the GTA's have not hit true collector status yet), most cars in this age range unless they are super low miles are not going to value out at much more than 3-4k. In fact, KBB puts a '91 with 80k on the odometer and in "good" condition at only $2955.
Of course, as with most everyone around here ... we all think our cars are worth much more than the are in the "real" world. Either way .... the fact that this person hasn't responded back means he's most likely just trying to sell it off for the highest price anyway.

Me & Bull have had a couple PMs and he is buying the car not selling it. He was thinking about buying a 91 GTA and it was $3,000. That was why he was asking about the value of the car. To see if he is getting a good deal or not.;)

Darrell, I wasnt tellin a story.... I called someone I knew @ CitiFinance ( When I was unemployed I didnt know how long it might last,so I inquired), I think the amt was 10,200 if I am not mistaken now of coarse it didnt come w/o a high % of interest to boot but still I could have done if need be. So, I was being realistic.:BG:
Just to let you know...this is in Canada..but you can get a loan here for any amount miniumun $1000 I believe...I got one by myself for $7500 with around 160,000 miles on the car....dont know why you can't get a loan with around the same for in the U.S. anyway ttyl

Well .... I guess you can get a loan for more than your car is worth but you are taking a big risk. If you wrecked the car, you would never get the value of the loan back from an insurance company and then you are stuck with a ballooned payment and no car. Also, like Cliff said ... you will get absolutely screwed on your interest rate as well. Having said that .... in the event of an emergency like losing your job Cliff ... it's comforting to know that you have some options like that.
I have always been a believer that if you don't have a car payment, pretend that you do and put that money into savings. You will be quite amazed at how quickly it will add up :)
yeah...I agree with you but luckly I got a very very low interest rate from my bank and I bought my car for $7000 and got a loan for $7500 so its around the same....
oh and remember...in Canada at least where I live you can't find GTA's at all or for 3-4k like you guys in the U.S. so if $7000 seems expensive its not and that around the standard price in Canada depending on the cars shape...the guy I bought it from was asking $10,000 so I talked him down alot...anyway thought I would mention that before anyone said I got ripped off lol...later, Josh
