Hello. My 88 GTA has the so called premium sound system. There is a "bass boost" switch on the dash. The bass speakers are cracked from old age. I have not had any luck locating equivalent replacements for those bass speakers.
Has anyone else found replacements for their woofers?
Thanks in advance for your help.

The subwoofers for the UQ7 system are available from an online Fiero parts retailer. A similar system was installed in those cars as well.
The Fiero Store sells them on their site for about $30 each. Go there and do a search for "speakers"; they are listed on the second page of results.... #53525.
I've got to get a pair of those for my red car also soon.... the factory stereo has no guts whatsoever without those speakers.

If you are looking for an upgrade, Infinity 5.25" component speakers will fit the opening with appxly 1/8" of space that you will need to build up with some sound deadener, like dynamat.

Thanks for the advice, merc. I'd considered that for a while but was unable to find anything through a local stereo store that would come anywhere close to fitting the enclosure.
I'm going back with the OEM speakers instead since I don't ask too much from the car anyway. But it's good to know that replacement speakers are out there.

Thanks for the quick and VERY helpful replies. I verified that my GTA does have the "UQ7" code. Per your advice, I went to the Fiero web site and ordered two speakers (#53525) for just under $70 delivered.
Before finding this forum, I spent more time than I'm willing to admit looking for the exact replacements for those bass speakers.
With hind sight being 20/20, I should have come to this forum first!
Thanks again!

Hindsight is always 20/20 isn't it....? Ah, the wisdom of age. Owner assistance is what all of this is here for, my friend.
I'll admit exactly how much time I've spent trying to find replacement speakers.... over two whole years. Luckily, I saw a post on another message board about The Fiero Store back in the summer.
I need to get a move-on and get me a pair on the way here myself.

Appreciate the offer. My 77 year old father bought this GTA new back in '88. He had all the expensive upgrades done after he retired. Once he got it configured the way he wanted it, he lost interest. He was going to put the GTA on Ebay. I said "no way" and bought it from him.
As it turns out, this GTA has become a father/son bonding "excuse".
My dad will drive down here from Apple Valley when he knows I am doing any work on the GTA. We spend the day hanging out in the garage.
If you are ever passing through this area, let me know. If I'm in town, you're welcome to stop by and we can show off our rides.
